FWIW, the Reds are 11-4 in games Wilson Valdez starts. His OPS is a mean .572 as a starter, which explains this phenomenon.

pitchers are afraid to put it in his wheelhouse... Votto is amazing at staying inside the ball and going with the pitch... sending a lot to left center when the pitchers are trying to pitch away

OB% was .333 during regular playing time....overall still higher than Stubbs....no power but slug% is right on Stubbs. Stubbs is .15 faster than Heisey to first.

Thanks for ignoring all the numbers I posted which is the only sample of constant playing time for over a month on Heisey.

Nothing logical about Votto being up that far....might I guess he was going to be ridiculously aggressive and try to get Gordon at 3rd....wouldn't put it past Votto but just speculating.

Look it's hard to say anything bad about Votto's hitting. But he seems to not want the middle in to inside pitch at all. I think if he went with the pitch as you say he would be driving those pitches more to the right of center. It's just a fact that you have more power pulling the ball.
Maybe it would totally mess him up...I really don't know.
Can anybody think of another player that was/is similar to him, I can't.
