Reds:

Phil Dumatrait (31) -He's retired now; his arm was just about shot...In 2007 he pitched the only game in major league history in which the first three players to come to the plate homered. After the three homers, the next two batters singled, at which point Phil was offered the opportunity to take an early shower.

Mario Soto (56) -In the period from 1980-85, no one struck out more batters than Mario Melvin Soto.

Johnny Wyrostek -CF; an All-Star for the Reds in '50 and '51...On September 4, 1950 he drove in eight runs in a double header...

Doug Allison -Catcher for the legendary 1869 Red Stockings, credited with being the first player to wear a glove...Suffered from a partial hearing loss, possibly as a result of service in the Civil War.

Others:

Scipio Spinks (65) -Included here because of his ultracool name...A promising young pitcher; he hurt his knee in a collision with Johnny Bench, and that seemd to trigger a series of injuries that ended his career..Currently a scout.

Ron Fairly (74) -Played 21 years in the bigs, mostly in pitchers parks, so his stats aren't what they might have been...Hit over .300 twice; once at age 22 and once at age 36...Represented both Canadian teams in the All-Star Game.

Lee Meadows -Nicknamed "Specs"; one of the first players to wear glasses on the field...Led the league in wins in 1926.

Johnny batted left in the 3rd position in the lineup followed by Big Klu in the clean-up slot. Two leftys in a row...horrors! No wonder the Reds could never generate much fire-power in the early 50s. ;)
