good to see frazier moving down while stubbs/cozart stay put.

NOT

Considering Votto is out I see this as a pretty good lineup. If Rolen can keep his post-ASB run going, this lineup, going from Latos to Hanigan, is pretty much going by production in increasing order.

yup b/c someone batting 218 with 290 obp is good.

Pitching and defense are still the name of the game. If the starters do their job you pretty much know the bullpen will. Offense won't have to score a lot.

Ian Kennedy is getting roughed up a bit this year. Let's hope that continues one more game. He was nails in 2011. He has only pitched two games against the Reds. But has pretty much had his way. Third time's the charm for Reds' hitters.

MrRedLegger
07-18-2012, 04:05 PM
Optimism, his career numbers, he's the kind of guy who won't just lay down and accept what he's putting up so far. Maybe those 4 healthy days off he fixed something.

I'm not going to criticize Dusty for not creating a lineup that cannot exist. And as of right now we need him in our lineup.

I think it's a good idea to have Frazier behind Rolen right now, particularly since Rolen pretty much HAS to play. Frazier's bat might protect Rolen a bit, get him some better pitches to hit.

Scoreboard watching:

Brewers just beat the Cardinals - after the Cards loaded the bases in the 9th and K Rod walked in a run to make it 4-3.

Pirates are bashing the ball all over Coors Field and are up 9-6 on the Rockies.

Also it's a highly electrical storm. Lightning bolts all over the place about every five seconds.

I still don't know why lightning is a problem in stadiums, if it strikes anything it will be the lights, as they sit on giant metal poles. No chance of being in danger inside the stadium.

Edit: Well, maybe if you're playing centerfield, lol

The funny thing about Bruce is, if he would just hit to his potential, this offense would hold up fine with Votto out. The sad thing is, the Reds wanted McCutchen bad in the 2005 draft but the stupid Pirates took him a slot above us grrrrrrrr.

TheBigLebowski
07-18-2012, 07:33 PM
I am really starting to think that the siren song of "promise" due to Bruce's age and obvious talents almost makes it incumbent upon us to see what kind of market there is for him...honestly, I think he is what he is going to be - an above average defender, good power, useless against lefties and will hit around .250. Maybe we can coax someone into giving us a return commensurate with his potential, which I now think he will never realize.

Handedness be (darned). Bruce had 1st and 3rd with one out against a righty who was getting tagged, and he waved at a high fastball out of the zone - first pitch. I could go to the plate without a bat and give us a better outcome.

Bruce will eventually heat up and then cool off again...the end result will be a .248 average, 29 HR and 101 RBI. Ludwick, with equal PT, could produce that. I just think Jay has peaked.

If Cozart ever learned how to hit, he could be pretty good. He has +power for a SS and is solid defensively, but when you can't hit, you can't make it as a starter with a potentially better defensive SS coming up your backside and 4 years younger.

That perspective thing just smacks you in the face...

Wow, mild spina bifida...you're doin great...My friend's son is Bo Van Pelt & certainly know who Chris Smith is...

It's mild - no opening -- just missing some of the "fingers" that supposed to hold thing in place -- docs have wanted to fuse it since I was 18 - but I'm 60 now & no metal in my back -- just my shoulder --

Chris is a good guy who has had it rough. I haven't seen him for a while but I understand he's doing OK now.

They aren't quitters at all they just dont have the ability to put hits together and when it happens its every 10-11game games

Funny as it seems, the Reds big problem is...........they don't hit enough homers. In this park hitting a HR about every game is important. I don't know if they are tired or what the problem is. But the power drain has killed them.

I have another friend who was "terminal" 25 years ago, and after his bone marrow transplant, he is to this day still pissing me and many others off on a daily basis! All the best to your brother n law! (It really works)

Been telling you the problem for two years: Not enough left handed hitters. Don't know why this is so hard to comprehend.

Dusty needs to hold a meeting. This hitting is not acceptable. They look like a bunch of A ballers.

Only when they pitch any righthander and any halfway decent lefthander against us.

That might be enough ---

I do have mild spina bifida --a dislocated vert & a broken vert -- sometimes it acts up & my neuro surgeon says he'll get me on a table someday - but so far so good - my brother has a fused back & he had to give up the game but he was never addicted

who is your friend's son?

my best friend's nephew has won on the PGA but he doesn't play much now -- Chris Smith is his name -- he's a little better than me -- OK -- maybe a crazy lot better

Golfed against Joe Ogilvie in high school. 16 teams....I was runner up medalist....Joe beat me by 3. Been on tour for about 15 years. 1 win.

Then you would clean my clock - I played on our HS team but that's not saying our team was good -- they did win the state title a few years later -- but I had zero to do with that.

One of the guys that was on that team has been out of my will for a few years --- in a scramble I drove a 326 yard par four -- what I still think is my best drive ever --- his tee shot was inside mine & we used his

It's baseball. It's not who you play that determines who wins....it's who plays better.....that's how the flippin Cardinals made the playoffs and won the WS.

Watching the split screen mosaic on Extra innings: 4 games, 4 right handed pitchers, 4 left handed hitters. What a concept.

I bet they all got hits too.
