It is painful watching Bruce hit right now...how much of this is Jay and how much of it is Jacoby not being able to teach him to go the other way? Does anyone ever see this changing or is Bruce always going to bat somewhere between .240-.260.

I will say for a first place team, they are downright hard to watch sometimes.

glad to see cozart get a break. i think he really needs moved down to 7-8 to get going- hitting .188 in last 30 games but continues to bat 1st or 2nd day in and day out

MrRedLegger

Frazier is back in his comfort zone at 3rd with 3 Vets (one of them a regular) in the infield. The young guns at 1 and 2 positions and kid Leake can swing the bat. Complete with a top-notch defensive outfield that may just wake up today at the plate.

Go Reds!

Bruce is what Bruce is. I think we need to come to grips with his streaking, I mean come season end his numbers will still be respectable, but he is never going to be a great hitter.

My concern lays more with Cozart. I think he be a very productive hitter, but right now he is being asked to do to much. I think if you bumped him down to say 7 or 8 you would see a different Cozart.

Do you have any idea how long a delay we are looking at?

Based on my completely unknowledgeable viewing of the radar it looks like this current band of rain will be out of Cincinnati relatively soon but there are a couple of additional small storms headed this way.

I do know that they will do everything to get the game in today since the D'backs do not come back to Cincinnati this year.

I agree. Perhaps we should have seen it coming, though.

I just can't believe the approach that most of our batters are stepping into the box with. As you pointed out, 15 first pitch swingers last night. Then Cairo first pitch swinging after Heisey walks.

It's just asinine. It's poor fundamentals. And the reason Stubbs gets so much ire around here in my opinion, is that he's the golden child for this trend on the club: "If your approach is broken, don't fix it."

I'm not a complainer on here. I like to try and be patient and let things come into view because baseball is such a long and twisty season. It is frustrating when there isn't a single guy in the lineup to break the mold. And it's a pretty crummy trend when it applies to most of the team.

It seems for the last month the opposition's on base percentage against Marshall is at least .500.

He has a high school fast ball that is as straight as an arrow.

Knowing that, the scouting report is just sit on that curve that is thrown at the same speed...

He's got 2 pitches. And one of those he throws 85% of the time .

At least Arroyo throws them at different speeds.

reds record without votto moves to 1-3. The guy was 5 WAR before the allstar break, and you guys think the Reds will be ok without him. LOL. Its more than just filling a role, its the motivation of knowing you have a guy who can ****ing hit on your team, he makes everyone better and when he isnt starting everyone is worse.

Sometimes, I loathe our fan base.

Edinson Volquez pitching his butt off lately. A nine-inning shutout last night. Only gave up a lone infield single that bounced off his glove. In his last six starts his ERA is 1.35. The guy always had the stuff. Reds just couldn't afford to wait around to see if he could harness it.
