The White Sox have acquired Brett Myers from the Astros, a source tells Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Houston announced that they will receive right-hander Matt Heidenreich, left-hander Blair Walters, and a player to be named later for the pitcher. The Astros will also send cash to Chicago, according to the White Sox . . .

I kinda like what the Astros are doing. Blow it all up.

I saw this move coming a mile away. There was zero chance Myers was staying.

And I agree with Tom. They're blowing it up correctly. One of the deepest and fastest restockings of a farm system I've ever seen. And with the move to the AL next year, they're poised to get top picks for the next several drafts too. I'd say it'll be 5 years minimum...but they'll reap the rewards.

I am not sure the Astros got a whole lot for Myers...but it was only Brett Myers. They wouldn't be expected to get much.

Walters was only the Sox 26th top prospect and has been a 22-year-old in the lower minors.

Heidenreich has had control problems and inability to "generate the swings and misses."

I think the Astros will benefit in the draft for being crappy more than they will from this trade.

A few more games like last night and you're right. Then again, I've got no idea why HOU is wasting their time using Coco as their closer in the first place.

They said on the broadcast last night that the Reds offered Coco a multi year deal. Yikes!

that scared me as well.....I think they did offer him a multi year deal at a reduced rate and told him that they were looking at other options for the closer role.....I could be wrong but I think I read that last year on Twitter from one of the 10 Reds insiders I follow...hahaha.....I could be wrong but I am pretty sure it was twitter where I heard that so it could be rumor.

I don't have Twitter, but I had heard a similar rumor about the deal that they offered him.

It's probably cheaper to do it this way.

I just read the funniest trade rumor on mlbtraderumors.com:

The Brewers will trade Randy Wolf "for nothing if you take the money," according to one official.
