I think Cozart and Stubbs were probably scheduled for days off, but Dusty did not want to change that lineup up too much while they were winning.

Stray

Any word on Mes possibly getting a suspension? I totally forgot about that in all of the trade rumors.

Cozart hasnt been doing anything. Valdez deserved to get a start

can the Reds pitching hold the 3rd worst offense in baseball to under 5 runs today?

can the Reds pitching hold the 3rd worst offense in baseball to under 5 runs today?

So the Reds pitching staff can't have an off day? What is worse, us giving up 11 to the Padres or the Pirates pitching staff giving up 14 (9 in one inning) to the Cubs...

FloridaBuckeye
07-31-2012, 06:50 PM
certainly speculation, but I think Stubbs was close to leaving town today... wish they'd plug him back in the lineup since he isnt going anywhere now

The Rage
07-31-2012, 06:56 PM
I wouldn't be surprised Bailey doesn't have some deadarm tonight(I personally think he did his last start, they usually come in multiple starts). I also think the Padres have plenty of talented young bats that will do well in GAB(as already shown).

Cubs are a much better team or were a much better team but now have a AAA team out there against the Pirates which stinks so the Reds cant be dropping any more home games to a bad Padres team

Definitely. It would save having to try to fill that hole next year. He's found his stroke, loves hitting in GABP, and loves the team chemistry.

Id give him like a 2 year 8 mil deal or something.

If he keeps hitting like this, I don't think 8 mill will get it done. It will probably take at least 12 mill for 2 years and incude a no trade clause.

The more I think about it... at his age he is gonna want 4 years at a minimum. Probably a 4 year, 22 million contract.

Hmmm... I just looked over Homer's games the last couple of months...

The ONLY time he gives up three or more runs is when the Reds score a lot, early.

I think he relaxes a bit too much whenever he has a big lead. That siad, if you are picking your spots as to when to surrender runs... the games where the Reds score a lot is the best time.

Padres pitching has been bad but at least they havent been walking hitters at the Rate the reds have this series and thats the difference

Sometimes you just run into a team that hits everything. Seems like every ball they are putting in play is finding a hole....or no mans land.

Just seems like a let up. Bailey letting up with a 6 run lead, and not concentrating on making quality pitches, and bruce not laying out for the single that started that inning. Maybe just saying letting up. Gotta learn from this and focus every play no matter score.

Can't concentrate when you are tired. Sorry, but it is, what it is. Leake had the same issue, as did Cueto IMO. The rotation is going through a down phase. It will pick back up.

The walks are a sign of fatigue

Fatigue+bad luck=meh results. Arroyo may be next on that list. Time for the Bats for once, to pick up the slack and they are.

Reds fans panic way to easy over typical seasonal ups and downs.

I noticed the coservative trot around the bases at well. Was it his previous at bat where he swung awkwardly (yet again). Looked exactly like the at bat in Colorado. I'm worried.

Nearly 30 seconds is borderline on ticking off the opponent.
