I am assuming the appeal was a management decision, so they can delay the suspension. After roster moves and when ready, they can just drop the appeal. He is not likely to win an appeal anyway.

Today the Reds added to the roster RHP Jonathan Broxton (#50), optioned to Class AAA Louisville RHP Todd Redmond, placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list C Devin Mesoraco, selected from Louisville the contract of C Dioner Navarro (#30) and designated for assignment IF Mike Costanzo.

I can't keep up with everything going on anymore.

7 day concussion DL. I doubt he really has one, just a move to keep us from playing 2 guys short maybe? He still gets the suspension after the DL I believe, hopefully Phillips is back in the lineup at that point tho.

I just looked that up. You CAN serve a suspension while on the DL. Kinda like Volquez did.

I think you're forced to play short when someone is serving a suspension like that. With Phillips already down that would be 2 players short. 7 day concussion DL and you can make a move to bring someone up.
