On the 18th the Reds play a day night DH with the Cubs. Given the workload of the starters so far and how a DH can mess with the rotation, should the Reds look to someone say in the minors or maybe Lecure to pitch one of those games so not to mess up the rotation?

good question

they have the Monday off that week & the DH is on Saturday - plus they play the next 11 days after the DH --

so my guess is they need another arm for it -- Sam might be that arm

I believe they go to philly for four after the Cub series and those will be four tough games on the road.

If I am not mistaen MLB allows a 26th player this year when teams play double headers. Will more than likely bring up the new guy they got from Atlanta.

They absolutely need another starter for that game. They aren't going to let half the staff only have 3-days off.

You are correct -- I totally forgot about that new wrinkle!

I suspect Mr. Redmond will return.

What about giving that kid at AA a one game shot?

Corcino?

I think that is his name. Didn't Cuteo jump from AA to the majors?

I think Cueto did jump from AA.

I'm not 100% positive on how it works, but wouldn't this scenario start Corcino's service time? If so, I'd rather it be Redmond or someone like that. If we are going to start a high end pitchers service time, I'd like that pitcher to stay with the club for good.

Pretty sure it would start his clock, from what I've read in other posts around here.

Yeah, it'll be either Redmond or maybe Jeff Francis I would say.

Well unless we trade for Francis it won't be him and now with Tomko released it pretty is down to Redmond.

I'm an idiot. Forgot about Francis.

With this DH coming up in 2 weeks I am kinda surprised the Reds released Tomko. He has pitched pretty well in AAA this year even though his W/L record didn't reflect that, has pitched and pitched fairly well on the ML level. I would think they would have kept him around at least till after that DH. Also haven't heard yet who replaced him in Louisville.
