The Reds are currently on a rare run in the middle of what looks like a potentially extraordinary regular season. Maybe a moment to celebrate that.

Membengal will start:

The Reds are 35-19 at home. Yoinks.

Reds have won 14 of 15. Yoinks.

Reds are winning games without Votto. Yoinks.

Reds are winning games without Votto and Phillips. Yoinks.

Reds are winning games without Votto and Phillips and Bruce. Yoinks.

Others? Let's have fun for a bit.

I feel like this thread is one big jinx waiting to happen. This team has damaged me over several years; I can never get comfortable.

edit: Ok but I'll bite. All this week the Reds have been the only team in baseball with a winning percentage above .600. Yoinks!

If we can't enjoy a good streak while it is happening, we are wasting the board. It seems unlikely they can win 14 of their next 15 as well, given that it would be historically unprecedented (membengal thinks), but it is still fun to take a moment and appreciate where they are as of this morning, membengal guesses that was his hope in starting this. Too many bad years with terrible teams to not take a few moments for our community to enjoy something good with the team that we clearly care about - hence this board existing.

In any event, building on your point, vatican, if the baseball teams were stacked up 1 through 30, the Reds are at the top of that stack and clear by a game and a half. Yoinks.

Just because I'm superstitious doesn't mean I don't enjoy them winning. People are wired differently as fans and all types of fandom are valid -- it doesn't meant they're "wasing" anything. Im not telling people not to appreciate where we are; I'm appeasing the baseball gods by acknowledging our awareness that things can change fast.

From Elias: The Reds' 6-5 win over the Pirates improved their record to 22-3 since July 6. Cincinnati has recorded 22 wins in a 25-game span only once in the last 120 years. The "Big Red Machine" went 22-3 from June 18 to July 13, 1975.

Yoinks!

Not quite. Just 1.86 Ks per inning. He has more Ks than 3 of our 5 starters. He has more Ks than the next 2 highest relievers (Marshall and Arredondo) combined.

He's only having one of the greatest relief seasons of all time. Yoinks.

Since Elias obviously doesn't know the score of last night's game, do you think they know the other numbers in that paragraph?

The Reds have the exact same record now that they had at the end of the strike-shortened 1981 season. They had the best record in baseball then too, but were denied a playoff spot because of the ludicrous split season format.

The Reds haven't had a team ERA under 4.00 for centuries. Pitching Coach Bryan Price could be the most under-appreciated weapon in the Reds' arsenal.

This thread was fun and captured, I hope, the high points of what the Reds just went through. Thanks to all who participated. Maybe a small touchstone that can be pulled up again 5 years from now if we want to remember something really good with a little more specifics.
