This will likely be the last number the Reds will retire for sometime.

Kind of short notice for this. Wish they'd announced ir earlier so I could have made plans.

It's about time.

And I agree with tixe -- some advanced notice would have been nice.

Definitely a worthy retirement. Not only does he have the numbers, but the fact that he was a Reds his entire career makes him the perfect candidate.

It would be nice to be able to buy a t-shirt in the team store with that number on it.

We had heard rumblings on this for some time from the front office, with our show contacts. For whatever reason, they couldn't announce it too soon in dealing with availability/ timing.

Well deserved though, regardless of how short the notice.

I was at the game this past Saturday and they had Larkin t-shirts in the gift shop.

I always felt it was classless by Dan O'Brien to offer Brandon Phillips Larkin's #11 the year after Larkin retired. I thought it was very classy for Phillips to decline. I have always blamed O'Brien for running Barry out of town and having a decade almost go by without much acknowledgement from the Reds organization.

Ceremonies culminate during the weekend series with the Cardinals to boot. Very nice timing.

Tough ticket to get, I had to go through StubHub to not sit all the way back in nosebleeds.

Anyone know if the beer steins will be worth lining up for?

That's the biggest and best picture that I can find. I can't find any info as to what it is made out of or what the design is of.

Not too bad if it's not made out of plastic.

DanO was fired before BP was a Red.

I believe he and Johnny Bench are the only ones.

Point taken.. The Reds were totally classless to Barry in his last few years, and immediately after he left.
It still bugs me that Allen got his panties in a wad when Barry visited the Reds in spring training after Barry retired. Thankfully, those dark days are over.

I know the actual game is on the big FOX network so I wonder if FSN Ohio can/will televise the retirement ceremony?
