When Phillips stops trying to be a cleanup guy he is an excellent hitter. Goes with the pitch very well.

Some pitcher got thrown out of the game earlier this season for having pine tar on his hat. If the rules can be bent, you can rest assured players are bending them.

stuff on their brim, sleeve, shoes, even nail files in their back pocket. Pitchers try to sneak in anything they can get away with. Unfortunately it's not the first time we've seen this, and this isn't the only facet of baseball that this applies to.

According to the Mets board, that bracelet was a friendship bracelet made by his daughters for his climb of Mt. Kilamanjaro. He has been wearing it all season. Not sure why here in the middle of August the umps would do something about it. They speculate that someone from the Reds planted that seed before the game.

Stray
08-15-2012, 08:05 PM
I hope it wasn't something that came from us. That's the kinda stupid stuff we've complained that other teams do.

You've been beating the drum of how badly Walt screwed up in not doing Ondrusek for Victorino straight up. Yet you still don't seem to acknowledge that it ended up taking a lot more value than one Ondrusek to get Vic to LA.

Any of us who follow the Reds saw that article, saw that rumor, saw its source, and understood that it was speculation. Other than, apparently, you.

Bet you got especially excited when Jim Bowden "guaranteed" Pierre, Victorino or Span would be a Red. Did you go out and buy a jersey of any of theirs, given it was a sure thing and all?

I submit there is a difference between what Daugherty writes and what Bowden writes. Of course I never read Bowden because I have speculated that hes an idiot.
