Methinks Swish will be in for a rude awakening this offseason, the Werth deal was more the exception than the rule of today's market. Plus Swisher has never had a season as good as Werth's 2009, let alone Werth's 2011.

But then again maybe the Mariners or somebody are willing to spend whatever it takes to get a slugger.

I think a better comp for Swisher is Josh Willingham.. They are about the same age, although Josh has had a better career offensively.. Josh didn't exactly get a mind blowing contract last winter.

The Padres have a huge TV deal and may overpay to attract someone like Swisher. That's what the Nats did when they acquired Werth a few years ago.
