Lineups don't matter. Dusty's been rolling Yahtzee's all year with his dice. He could bat Latos 3rd and we'd win this game.

Well sure the Reds would win. Latos has a .956 OPS in the second half of the season. :)

Looks good on paper...sounds kinda scary...but doesn't matter. It's our year.

I'm telling you....we are good and have that luck factor. Bruce and Frazier get on every time they hit the ball it seems. Scouts suck as the shift on Bruce must have the SS playing second slightly shaded to the bag and and the 2nd baseman in shallow RF between the traditional 1st and 2nd baseman.

Ludwick hits everything hard and low over the plate....everyone pitched him there for 2 months....now they are elevating hard stuff and he's not been as great. Has Rolen hit 5 inside pitches all year? Lol

Strasburg shut down...Dodgers will have karma issues. Reds got it all going.

Tonights game shows why the Reds are where they are and why the Cardinals are where they are: team chemistry.

We may not be overly talented(especially with multiple young players struggling or underachieving Leake,Stubbs,Bailey and depending how hot/cold he ends up, Bruce) but this team is excellent at winning. We just win. May not lead toward a world title, but we win games. The Cards just don't have that this year without Larussa and Pujols.

LaRussa and Pujols didn't will the Braves to like 8-17 in Sept....that's part of the luck factor. Nelson Cruz was caught in the moment of being 1 strike away and not being focused on the ball maybe getting hit to him. Cruz would have ran through the wall for that catchable ball had he had to....and been wanting/ready for the ball.

Losing a game at home in the 6th against the defending world champions and now we suck???/

No....this is a thread of tonight's game and right now either we are sucking or the Cards are great. We aren't posting about the season as a whole...it's tonight's game thread.

That was a pathetic effort by Latos...he pitched lazy this inning and he pouted...He gave up 3 home runs if you count the fact that Craig took him deep twice...he is just so danged easy to get frustrated with.

You didnt say he jacked him out of the park twice, you said, and I quote...He gave up 3 HOME RUNS....

Mutaman

The Cards are hitting the ball where it's pitched....they deserve credit.

They were hitting balls that were hanging right up in the strike zone. If Latos had gotten off the mound on Beltran it probably would have been a 1-2 -3 inning.

I'm not looking for your body of work. If you didn't see Craig jack Latos deep twice in that at-bat, then I give you a pass. If you saw the same at-bat I saw, then you're just being needlessly argumentative.

He pulled a pitch foul that had HR distance....Latos located it elsewhere and he hit it hard where it was pitched for a HR. At some point you give the hitter credit. It's not like some of the Reds dead pull hitters yanking the sake pitch foul and getting the same pitch for a homer. This Cardinals team has a great offense with minimal holes. They are patient and hit it where it's pitched...they've been there.

Latos was very good for 5 and not good in the 6th.

Tough not to criticize the pitcher when the combined distance of 2 of the 3 balls he pitched to said batter were hit a combined 850 feet. I know the Cards have a good offensive lineup but this is not Murderer's Row. Latos lost his mind this inning. He was probably still pouting from that strikeout and he came out mentally unprepared. that heart starts with Stubbs --- not usually a good thingSo true. He's not exactly a "table-setter" when it comes to patience when patience is what a team needs. The best way to rally from the type of half-inning they just had is a quality at-bat that leads to a walk. To Stubbs' credit, he did walk and score a run earlier tonight....something that has been rare for him while under the tutelage of Dusty Baker, but so very common when he was in the Minors.

We only have to score one run each inning while holding St. Louis to none over two-and-one-third innings. That's extremely possible.
