Why sure we can, if we get good pitching like the first 2 games of this series. We will.

Good throw by Bruce, great call by the umpire. He looked safe live, but CY's slide made him out.

texasdave
08-29-2012, 05:00 PM
Latos balks a run in. Balk run is stupid. He just barely moved. No way was that to try to deceive the runners.

Biff Pocoroba

Cairo showing off that pitcher's mound power. Bruce doesn't move after reaching first to lead things off in the second.

Biff Pocoroba

If you are a lead-off hitter and you can't get on base, at least have the decency to make the opposing pitcher throw you more than four pitches in two at-bats.

texasdave
08-29-2012, 05:31 PM
Cozart is solid with the leather.

texasdave

Latos has settled down nicely. Seven straight set down. Just 22 pitches in the last two innings.

The Rage
08-29-2012, 05:34 PM
Boy, this lineup is bad. Outside the Phillips-Bruce-Frazier trio(with Heisey in support) just a bunch of automatic outs.

Biff Pocoroba
08-29-2012, 05:36 PM
In most cases, you want your 8th spot hitter to get on base so that the pitcher won't lead off the next inning.

In the case of the Reds today, I am cheering for Latos to get on base so that we don't have either of the first two hitters leading off the next inning.

texasdave
08-29-2012, 05:36 PM

Hopefully at least one of Heisey, Cairo and Navarro can get on in front of our hottest bat in the order.

texasdave
08-29-2012, 05:49 PM
Heisey dives and comes up just short. Upton with some brain-dead base running. Still scores. Upton was nearly on third when that ball kicked off Heisey's glove. He had no idea whether it was going to be caught or not. He was dead to rights if Heisey makes that catch.

Not worried about the team hitting. A lineup of Phillips, Cozart, Votto, Ludwick, Bruce, Frazier, Rolen, Hanigan is going to score a ton of runs. Substitute Stubbs for Frazier, which could happen, and not so much.

Biff Pocoroba

Has Hamilton ever even played CF? No way you do that in the playoffs. I do think there's a good case for him to make the postseason roster though. Late inning pinch runner with that kinda speed is a weapon.

Bruce could easily play CF at GABP. The question is if he could play CF in San Fran or in LA. If he can, there's your postseason lineup. That's one thing we gotta find out in the near future...just how well Bruce can patrol CF. I think Frazier could hold his own in a big LF too.

I would rather have the better offense than the slight decline from Stubb's defense in CF. Once the Red's get the lead, sub Stubbs in CF and have the bullpen hold onto the lead.

Its kind of nice that our bullpen has been so good this year that this kid has been sitting in the minors.

Not sure why they didn't make a throw on that.

Cozart hits a one-hop bullet to the mound. Shaw snags it and turns it into two outs.

Is it me or is Drew Stubbs 0-2 or 1-2 every single at-bat?

How can you possibly justify playing stubbs everyday?

Second GS in the last four starts for Drew.

Whether Dusty plays him or not, Stubbs doesn't deserve to play over Heisey.

Arredondo on for the final three outs.

Stubbs with his career high 41 K in one month and has made 4 or more outs an astounding 16 times in August.

Jose with some high heat. Upton grabs some bench.

Heisey recent ab shows y he isnt an answer in CF. Just has terrible abs when he starts games

Look up some stats of when he consistently start or even starts at all this year....check out his numbers with runners on base and just man up and admit you're wrong to judge him because he sucked for 2 AB.

At the rate he is going he will soon match his K rate per AB of last year -- but all is fine -- we are winning

Yes!

We've had some long balls --- some good pitching and 4 K's from Stubbs -- enough to make all happy!
