Check this out. Kent St. is punting to Towson. Towson receiver muffs the punt and a LB for Kent St. recovers and starts going the wrong way. But everyone was just as confused as he was as Towson guys tried to tackle him and his teammates blocked for him. Eventually a Towson player knocked him out of bounds.

Complete brain fart on the field.

Running the wrong way on a football field is always good for a laugh in my book.

I really am not sure if the Kent player or all the Towson players chasing him should be more embarrassed.

I'd say his teammates since they were blocking for him.

IMO, the Towson players' stupidity is more galling because there were multiple individuals involved.

one of the overall dumbest plays i've ever seen LMAO. The punt returner did a horrible job trying to get out of the way of the ball, obviously the Kent player running the wrong way and the Towson players trying to tackle him. May go down as the dumbest play of all time

And after all that it doesn't even matter. You can't advance a muffed punt...even backwards.

Yep, even the refs messed up, they were running with the guy and not blowing the play dead.

Most publicity Towson's received since snapping their 41-game losing streak in basketball back in January.

Did they spot the ball where he went out of bounds?

They should have spotted the ball where he picked it up. The play was dead at that point.

I understand but did they? If officials always did what they were supposed to, I wouldn't need to ask

This blip would seem to indicate that the officials got it correct.

The half nearly ended with a blooper to remember when Kent State's Andre Parker ran 50 yards in the wrong direction after a Towson player inadvertently touched a bouncing punt at his own 12.

The ball, however, was brought back to the Tigers' 12 with 17 seconds left until half. Kent State took a 27-7 lead on Cortez's 22-yard field goal as play expired.

Yeah, if you look at the drive chart you can see they brought it back to where he picked it up.

I bet the officials in the booth made the right call ;)

I'm glad to hear that. For a moment, I thought, "Wow. They changed that rule again?"
