Two in a row sounds good to me. Leake needs to pitch a good ballgame.

Good to see Stubbs back in the 2 hole. I mean they haven't done much without him either.

Good to see Stubbs back in the 2 hole. I mean they haven't done much without him either.

I was going to complain about him being in the starting lineup, but then I realized the offense has actually seemed worse without him.

No fecal matter down the john tonight Mike. This is a important start if you want on the playoff roster.

Ugh

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:15 PM
26 outs from perfection.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:16 PM
It took all of two batters for Leake to give up a long ball.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:17 PM

Extra bases for Garrett Jones. Man on second with two down.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:20 PM
Alvarez nearly follows suit. Just foul.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:22 PM
Alvarez ropes one but right at Stubbs. Damage limited to one run.

Stray
09-11-2012, 07:22 PM

The Rage
09-11-2012, 07:23 PM
Hopefully Mike got that out of the system........

texasdave

That's true. He must be saving his Ks for later, when the game is on the line.

He is dead serious now. No more funny business.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:48 PM
Leadoff walk to Navarro. Will they ask Babe Valdez to bunt?

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:50 PM
Soft V got all of that one. 100 feet short of the warning track. Why would you let Valdez swing away?

The Rage
09-11-2012, 07:50 PM
Valdez will have trouble finding work next year

NebraskaRed
09-11-2012, 07:50 PM
Valdez accepts the inevitable and gets out on one pitch

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:51 PM
If Navarro was on second he probably would not have scored on that. Still dumb to not ask Valdez to bunt.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:53 PM
There we go.

09-11-2012, 07:53 PM

NebraskaRed
09-11-2012, 07:57 PM
Stubbs is not striking out. That's progress at least

texasdave
09-11-2012, 07:59 PM
A grounder to short and a wild pitch enables Phillips to score. Figure the odds on that happening.

Stray
09-11-2012, 07:59 PM
Votto's power isn't back yet. Those are balls he usually bangs off of the wall.

texasdave

1 in threeve

texasdave
09-11-2012, 08:18 PM
Those line drives right at you in the outfield are the toughest play, IMO.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 08:19 PM
Reds scored three on a walk, a fake bunt slap past the drawn-in third baseman, a grounder off the shortstop's glove and a wild pitch.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 08:20 PM
There it is. Throw that ball out of play.

Red Raindog
09-11-2012, 08:21 PM
Wilson gets a hit before Stubbs in this game -- mark it down

NebraskaRed
09-11-2012, 08:21 PM
Valdez with another quick out...wait, a single?

Ironman92
09-11-2012, 08:22 PM
Stubbs is not striking out. That's progress at least

No HR in 110 AB
No doubles in 88 AB

NebraskaRed
09-11-2012, 08:22 PM
Followed by Leake with a sacrifice bunt. Kind of wish they'd just let him hit.

Stray
09-11-2012, 08:22 PM
Leake does all of the other things really well. Great fielder, great bunter, great hitting pitcher, great baserunner for a pitcher...when he can give you 6 innings and 3 runs or so he's the kinda guy that gives your team a great chance to win.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 08:22 PM
It is amazing that Stubbs has so few doubles with the speed that he possesses.

NebraskaRed
09-11-2012, 08:23 PM
No HR in 110 AB
No doubles in 88 AB

I'm not saying he's actually getting on base, I'm saying if they're working on his hitting then at least there's a glimmer of progress shining through.

Ironman92
09-11-2012, 08:23 PM
Those line drives right at you in the outfield are the toughest play, IMO.

Agree.....but he came in two steps immediately....which puts him at 4 extra steps and he only missed it by a step.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 08:24 PM
Boom goes the dynamite. I am calling Stubbs' shot for him.

Wrong.

texasdave
09-11-2012, 08:24 PM
Three grounders to short for Stubbs in four innings of play.

Stray
09-11-2012, 08:25 PM
Well Stubbs' work with Jacoby has mastered that groundball to SS. I hear next they'll be working on the flyball to the CFer.

NebraskaRed
09-11-2012, 08:25 PM
No strikeouts yet for Stubbs somehow makes this his best game in weeks.

Ironman92
09-11-2012, 08:25 PM

Disagree completely.....I need to see a gapper once every 23 games....he hasn't had a single one. Trace his numbers as far back as you choose....but 3 easy grounders to SS and swinging early to avoid whiffing just isn't cutting it.

NebraskaRed
09-11-2012, 08:29 PM

I actually agree with you. I don't see the purpose of putting Stubbs in over Heisey at all at this point. However, if he is going to be in the game, I'd rather see him making some contact with the ball rather than strikeout after strikeout.

MrRedLegger

Since Aug 6th (today is his 30th game including that date)

Stubbs is

17/110 for a .155 avg

He has 1 double and 1 triple in that spell to blast him to a .182 slug %

He has 7 walks to crack him in at a .205 OB%

A .387 OPS over 30 games played.

MrRedLegger
09-11-2012, 08:39 PM
You could say Votto has his slumps. But then you'd be denying that he never truly gets pitched to.
