FWIW- Dusty might not manage tonight. Was taken to the hospital to get checked out for possible pneumonia.

Then who loses a spot?

Leake is one guy I don't want to see on the 25-man.

Simon is one I do (Fay had Simon left off).

Leake is trailing for the final rotation spot right now though, but I would love for him to grab it since they will probably be GAB games.

You can pretty much count on one boneheaded play on the basepaths every game from the Reds. Where was Joey going in such a hurry? He wasn't gonna score on that. He wasn't gonna challenge the catcher on a play at the plate. It made no sense whatsoever for him to put his head down and start hauling butt.

I'm looking at the schedule around the majors this week and just about every single series has some kind of meaning this time in September. That second wild card is the greatest thing that's happened to baseball in a long time. The only really two non factor games are Cleveland/Minnesota and Arizona/San Diego although you can argue that game still has some meaning being both teams are not out of it completely

I think that you HAVE to put him on the playoff roster. Just In the case that Homer or anyone goes out there and gives up 5 or 6 runs in the first inning of a game, you bring him in to pitch the rest of it and it saves your bullpen. Also he can hit and pinch run in an emergency. Right now the Reds have a luxury of 35 players, it won't be that way in the playoffs

If he got 5 a game that would 11 games for 55 and 12 games is the max we would play to reach the WS. If he's getting 5 a game in the playoffs we are probably winning since we would be getting around the line up at a good clip for playoff baseball.

Mike clean out your locker. Simply unacceptable pitching. Bailey didn't even reach this point to the 8th and 100+ pitches thrown.

He won't make the playoff roster with this performance against a team who has nothing remotely meaningful to play for.

Then what is it that you're crying about then?

This is it, regardless of your rebuttal as we are having a good game offensively finally.

I GUESSED the Reds will win the NLDS in 5....and lose the NLCS in 7....that's 12 games and without calculating right on Stubbs PA per game when he starts. I'm guessing Frazier will get 2 starts and several pinch hitting appearances.

You keep saying that will likely get us to the WS.....but he'd be up around 70 or so in a typical type playoff series run. I already said the only way around it would be to sweep the first two series and then sweep or get swept in the WS.

You were so appalled that I couldn't understand how the Brewers or Phillies had no chance being 5 back with 20-21 to play and 3 teams ahead of them....why can't you understand my numbers? And don't rebut that I don't get it that Stubbs with 5 PA means we are probably winning. We are something like 34-13 when he gets 5 PA....but the problem there is they are best of 5 or best of 7 series.....and thru Stubbs first 16 times this year with 5 PA...the Reds were 8-8.

No one will be any happier if we win the World Series....knocking off the Cards and Yankees would be even sweeter....

"It's our year" has been what I've been saying for 2 months....but this stuff has to keep up, hopefully it will but I don't trust it to keep up....especially if the luck-butt Cardinals get in.

The fact you think he is going to play every inning of the playoffs is your first mistake. Your second is if he gets that many PA it means we are scoring so who care who in the line up if the pitching costs us games. He has 51 games this year with 5 or more PA with 4 of those extra inning games which we are 1-3, and the record in those 51 games is 38-13 .745 and .787 in 9 inning games.

For him to get 56 PA and us not to make the WS means its not going to be his fault so who in the hell cares who starts in center if the pitchers completely collapse and cost us several games.

The funniest thing you wrote is saying I don't understand numbers when talking about 4 teams in front of someone and needing to make up 5 games, that's the hardest thing to do in all of baseball, You basically need to win every game you play to pull that off. One has to have no base of reality if they teams are making up 5 games in 20 when the team they are chasing has one of the easiest schedules in all of baseball.
