No Ludwick yet again.

No problem. Let him rest. Him and Rolen.

malcontent
09-25-2012, 05:28 PM
Heisey's OBP of .323 isn't great, but it's significantly better than Cozart's or Stubbs' (both .284).

But the SS bats second, I know.

:deadhorse:

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:29 PM
Lonely in the old game thread.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:31 PM
I wish more Reds' hitters would take the walk, like Votto does, instead of trying to force the issue by swinging at ball four. You aren't likely to do much with a pitch out of the strike zone anyway.

Why is the pitcher going to throw a strike if they know the hitter will expand his strike zone?

Good question, Dave.

Thanks.

Bow tie Tuesday

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:34 PM
Votto scoops the low throw. Sweet.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:35 PM
Cueto looking sharp. Three ground balls here in the second. No score.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:39 PM
Bruce ropes a curve ball to right for a single.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:43 PM
Heisey lines a single to center. First and second with nobody out.

Stubbs dumps one in. Bases juiced.

MrRedLegger

Navarro ordered his sub with extra Grand Salami.

Navarro singles to left to bring home a pair.

texasdave

This guy shut the Reds down last time, I think.

Johnny usually gets down a good bunt

NebraskaRed
09-25-2012, 08:51 PM
Man, I'm glad they are starting Navarro instead of Mesoraco. He's just a better hitter on top of being at least as good a catcher.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:51 PM
Cueto usually is a solid bunter. Not that time.

NebraskaRed
09-25-2012, 08:53 PM
I think Cueto was tired of sacrificing himself, and decided to sacrifice Stubbs instead.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:53 PM
Phillips hit it too hard. Bases juiced again.

MrRedLegger
09-25-2012, 08:54 PM
I didn't think Fiers was going to pitch as well as he did last time. The season is ending and with Wild Card hopes, to a young pitcher like him it's hard to pitch a great game.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:54 PM
He should have sacrificed himself. He doesn't need to get hurt running the bases.

NebraskaRed
09-25-2012, 08:55 PM
Phllips just tied Morgan on the Reds all-time hit list.

Stray
09-25-2012, 08:55 PM

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:55 PM
Run like Votto, Johnny.

5-4-3. 2 zip after two.

Stray
09-25-2012, 08:56 PM
A lot of hits to only score 2

texasdave
09-25-2012, 08:56 PM
The bare minimum with five hits. Better than nothing.

NebraskaRed
09-25-2012, 08:57 PM
I'd say 5 hits and 2 runs was a successful inning. If Cueto really did hurt his knee/leg and is brushing it off, that ain't good.

osuredleg24
09-25-2012, 08:59 PM
hurt or not, i still wish they would skip a start for Cueto to get him some rest

Stray

texasdave

Cueto picked off Weeks. Simply amazing.

Five straight ground ball outs for Cueto.

texasdave

Dioner two for two with a bloop single to right-center.

If Mes is not on the postseason roster then Navarro won't get to hit.

Ground balls are the order of the day.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 09:39 PM
The Howl back in action here in the fifth. So now we knows it takes about five innings to drink enough beer to kick that howl into action.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 09:42 PM
Gomez doubles down the line. A single to right and Bruce's throw goes up the line. Segura gunned down easily trying to reach third for no apparent reason. What do they teach players in the minors? Anything? Every single game you will see a ridiculous baserunning decision. Every. Single. Game. You just cannot get thrown out for the third out in that situation.

Maker_84

texasdave

Joey does what he does best. Doubles to the gap. 3-1. His headfirst slides are looking a little better. =)

NebraskaRed
09-25-2012, 09:49 PM
That slide was perfection compared to some of his other attempts.

No, apparently Dusty won't back until next week, is the plan. Exciting game tonight, though. Hope the Reds keep this up!

MrRedLegger

Drew Stubbs goes from country to dubstep for his plate approach song. Can't blame him for trying to switch things up

On to the 7th. 4-1.

jhiller21
09-25-2012, 10:14 PM
Interesting that in the last inning Welsch said "why don't they drop a bunt down the first base side to test his legs?", which they abruptly did.

Cueto looked a little lame after making that play, but waved off the trainer. Who knows...

texasdave

If the Reds hold on they will be 12-9 in September. That might not sound like much but it is a .571 winning percentage. Over the course of a season that will lead to 93 wins. So even with a balky offense they are winning.

texasdave
09-25-2012, 10:46 PM
Set off them fireworks, Jay.

texasdave
