Two years, $16 million.

I posted this in the news thread, but I thought there could be some interesting discussion. (Link is in Spanish)

Frankly, I'm surprised he got that contract coming off of the suspension.

With those miracle working hitting coaches that they have, Cabrera might increase his production after getting off the juice.

Are they getting juiced Melky or reg Melky?

Jays are going for it.

Is there a Red's opportunity in the Jays OF. The now have Bautista, Rasmus, Bonifacio and Cabrera.

I'd love Bonifacio. But if I were the Jays, Rasmus would be the guy I'd look to move. Any interest? Classic WJ pickup?

Jays are going for it.

Good year for that, Yankees old, Red Sox dull, Orioles turn to a pumpkin

Watch Tampa stomp them

C - J.P. Arencibia/Travis d'Arnaud
1B - Adam Lind?
2B - ???
SS - Jose Reyes
3B - Bret Lawrie
LF - Melky Cabrera
CF - Colby Rasmus/Emilio Bonafacio
RF - Jose Bautista
DH - Edwin Encarnacion

Upgrade 1B and add even a halfway decent 2B and that's a potent lineup.

Mark Buehrle
Josh Johnson
Brandon Morrow
Ricky Romero (assuming last year wasn't a sign of things to come)
Kyle Drabek/Drew Hutchison

Pretty good.

Considering Blue Jay hitters seem to find power that didn't exist before, I fully expect Melky to continue putting up all-star stats.

I think Bonifacio can play 2b.

A good time to trade for Bautista to bat cleanup and play LF for us. ;)

Are the Reds sending them Votto in return? There is no way the Reds can sign Votto long term and he is Canadian or from Dayton- one of those places.

Otherwise it is interesting to see what effect this and Hunter may have on Ludwick.

A team of juicers signs a known juicer. Fitting place for Cabrera.

Who are the other juicers?

A team of juicers signs a known juicer. Fitting place for Cabrera. They better find a new pharmacist, because they were below league average in RS/G and were next to last in Baseball ref.com OPS+ (http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/AL/2012.shtml). Maybe the new alchemist can get the pitchers on a program too.

Looks like it's down to Jim Tracy or Jim Riggleman for the final choice in Blue Jay Manager. Probably doesn't deserve it's own thread, but since Riggleman's been managing our farm club, I thought it might interest some.

It must have been referring to drinking V8 or something because otherwise it was wild supposition that frankly displayed a disturbing lack of regard for the character and reputation of others.

Agreed. This is textbook application of appropriate aggression.

Yeesh, I take back what I said about Toronto going for it.No doubt, putting on old smelly tube socks with holes in them doesn't make a lot of sense after going and buying some flashy new clothes.

I think they might be the same guy... have they ever been in a room together?

One thing Toronto's moves, the Hunter contract and the League contract seem to indicate is that a number of teams look willing to spend that new TV money. It looks like the market has gone up substantially, at least for players who are getting to the table early.
