The only hits for the Reds were a leadoff triple by Thomas Howard in the first inning, back-to-back one-out singles by Jose Rijo and Thomas Howard in the third, and a leadoff double by Tim Costo in the seventh. Yes, that is Pedro Martinez in the Dodgers' starting lineup at 3B. Tommy Lasorda was trying to get some sort of pinch-hitting record for Dave Hansen, so in road games in which Hansen might normally be the starter at 3B, Lasorda would start a pitcher at 3B and bat him somewhere in the top three spots in the order (usually third), so that Hansen would get a PH at-bat in the first inning. Hansen would then remain in the game at 3B.
