If there is such a thing as a bad time for a team to get hot, it was the reds in July. The wrinkles were still there, just covered long enough to force inactivity.

I don't think being hot for 2 weeks is what kept Walt from making a move. I think its much more likely he didn't think Denard Span or whatever else was available was worth selling the rest of the farm for.
