CINCINNATI (AP) -- Bengals coach Marvin Lewis will have surgery Wednesday to repair torn tendons in his left ankle.
Lewis, whose ankle has been wrapped during training camp, isn't sure how much time he'll miss because of the surgery. The team is scheduled to practice Wednesday.
Assistant head coach Paul Alexander will fill in for Lewis.
"The timing of this is not what I wanted," Lewis said in a statement. "But I've been counseled it's the best plan to ensure that I can be fully productive during the regular season."

Damn, I was hoping it was Ray Lewis.

I hope he gets a piece of steel implanted in the ankle so he can kick some rear ends this year. First guy to get arrested gets the iron ankle treatment.

Would you let the Bengals' medical staff work on you?

Man, I hope this doesn't affect his ability to run to the other side of the field to argue with the ref who made the obligatory terrible, game changing calls we are bound to see in at least three games this season.
