Guarantee it will be Todd Redmond.. The streak will come to an end, same 5 SP's will be broken which is BS, cannot penalize the Reds BC of a rain out. Def Redmond though, he deserves a chance, he has been called up 2 times and hasn't pitched
Considering that Redmond is pitching today, for the Bats, his next scheduled start, would be Saturday, so he would seem likely. Don't know Villereal's schedule, but he could be held back, in preparation, if the Reds need so.
Would you rather see Redmond or Hoover?
I think the Reds will use a starter and as mentioned will likely be Todd Redmond to make one of the starts.
I'm sure they will. If it's Redmond I hope he goes 6 innings and gives up 3 runs or less. That's what we need.
I would hate to see the streak end, but I would hate it even more to see our starters fall a part from only 4 days rest. Hopefully Redmond gets called up again. Feel bad that he has been teased by getting up 2 different times for only 1 day and never getting in.
It would almost have to be Redmond otherwise you are bringing back Latos on Saturday night with short rest.
If there was anyone on this team who could do start again on short rest, I would say it would be Latos.
Maybe Dusty pulls him after 4 or 5 innings tomorrow if we have a good lead to keep him on for Saturday too. Have Simon or LeCure take over until Marshall/Broxton/Chapman for the win on Tuesday.
We're playing the Cubs at home.....start Frazier. If he doesn't fare well in the first couple innings put in Cairo.
Seriously though, Redmond is on the 40-man roster and his next scheduled start (in the minors) is Friday. One extra days rest and first MLB start seem to be in order if you ask me.
Go Reds!!
There has to be a "new" pitcher - otherwise everyone would be pitching on 3 days rest next week (given we don't have a day off) and there's no way Dusty will do that. We get the roster exception - 100% chance we use it.
Say we do not use Simon during the Mets series. Is there any chance we start him on Saturday and bring up an infielder to help? Rolen is already on DL and Phillips' calf could go at any moment. Two games in one day could be too much for his calf. That would leave 4 infielders, one of them being Cairo. Unless Leake or one of our OF could spot start.
Again, just an idea. :)
