I really don't see why the Cards aren't winning more with that lineup.
Not to turn this into a Dusty bashing but man, it's not a great sign when you look at the lineup, think the names in it are exactly right...and then realize your two weakest bats are hitting 1st and 2nd. :(
Imagine how Dusty would look with that lineup and a 7 game deficit in the standings.
Cozart's numbers over the last month reflect anything but a weak hitter. In fact, his OPS in that period is 130 points higher than Phillips'.
You want Hanigan to lead off? Not many managers would hit the slowest man on the team in the lead off spot. How many catchers lead off. It's not just Dusty.
The team lacks natural table setters. I've complained about this personnel all year, but Walt is pretty sharp. Maybe he realized that in this division, these ballparks, power is the key and consistent power through the lineup is most important.
Forget the batting order, the correct guys are playing, let's get a win.
Man, I know its going to fill up - but man. The ballpark looks empty right now.
Can't believe Latos' ERA is all the way down to 3.56 after his April disaster. Sweet.
Lots are filing in...Attachment 6253
The grounds crew are wearing Larkin t-shirts.
I'm going to wind up poking myself in the ear with a screwdriver before this game is over if I keep listening to Costas.
Jay grounds out to 1st.
and the only good thing about Smoltz is that he isn't Glavine.
Nice. Beltran strikes out looking.
Bruuuuuuce!
