Minor-League Games of Thursday, April 11, 2013
Didn't realize that Louisville had an early start. It's in the fifth, and while I know that nobody is enamored of Greg Reynolds, he is pitching quite well tonight: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. The Bats lead 1-0 after five. Denis Phipps is 2-3 with a 2B and the game's only RBI. Hamilton is 0-3 with a K.
Edit: Soto just doubled home Phipps in the top of the sixth to make it 2-0. The game's at Toledo.

Ray Chang and Kris Negron have singles. Louisville still leads 3-0. It is 7th-inning stretch time. Greg Reynolds has been excellent. 6IP 2H 0ER 0BB 1K.
Reynolds gets a liner and two fly balls to retire the Mud Hens 1-2-3 in the 7th. According to GameDay, Reynolds is at 81 pitches. I'd say he has one more inning left in him.
Denis Phipps has reached base four straight times. A single, a double and twice on errors. Soto doubles him home again. 4-0 Bats.

Dayton is hosting Great Lakes. Ismael Guillon takes the ball for the Dragons. Game will be underway shortlly. And as I type that last sentence I notice the game is being delayed.

Great Lakes team average: .186
Dayton team average: 183
Look for a slugfest.

Soto with another RBI double to make it 4-0 Bats in the top of the eighth. It would be nice to see him start raking again.

Pensacola at Mobile is postponed due to inclement weather.

Pitching change for Louisville. Clay Hensley will face the Hens. Appropriate. And he strikes out the first batter he faces. Clay is a native of Tomball, Texas. Named after some guy named Tom Ball. True fact. That is just a hop, skip and a jump from where I live. David Clyde was from Tomball. And now you are caught up on the entire history of Tomball, Texas.
Hensley walks Lennerton and then strikes out another Hen. Another walk. Hensley strikes out the side around a pair of free passes. On to the top of the 9th. 4-0 Louisville.
Greg Reynolds had five 1-2-3 innings and faced just batter over the minimum. Louisville is now 'Possibility City'.

What do people think of having all the farm teams play a game at GABP on the same day? They could start at 10 then 1 then 4 then 7. Maybe play seven-inning games. I would go.

Neftali Soto came off the DL today. Nevin Ashley went on. Right shoulder tendinitis. This is Soto's first game in 2013.

Bats with three Ks. On to the bottom of the ninth. Mud Hens need a handful to win. Hensley will start the ninth. Whalen is up in the bullpen.

That's a boffo idea. Might be hard to get the visitors to schedule it--especially from the California League--but the concept is excellent. . . . Or split it into doubleheaders and do it over two days.

I would be surprised if Dayton gets going. Looking at the radar, it looks like rain until at least 11.

Hensley registers his 4th K. Grounder to second for out number two. Dayton isn't that far from Toledo. Two-out single. Danny Dorn to the plate. Light rain falling in Toledo. Hensley up over 40 pitches and wobbling a bit. Dorn walks. Whelan will come on.
