AZ Red.. Sorry I missed your post. This darn thread is so long it's easy to miss a few psoters.
OK... The Reds feel that Colon has the most upside of any pitcher they can "obtain" immediately. Take that for whatever it's worth. I happen to agree. Sure there are some great and possibly better pitchers out there. How many are available?
The front office has been so impressed with the work Jose Rijo has done with many of the latin players they believe Jose can push Colon to the top. (Even Hector Carraso was decent when Rijo was here)
As for Shaw, I have no comment on that right now. I have been trying to reach Jeff. I want to hear any scoop from him personally. I'll let you know when and if I do.
Rolen is not a good bet. What most fans do not realize is that he is very moody and has had adverse affects in the Philadelphia clubhouse. The Phillie's front office is not to blame for everyhting in this case. Rolen has dug himself a hole and may find himself in a bad spot in the off season. Then again a change of scenery may bring out a new Scott Rolen. Look for the Reds to stay with Aaron Boone at 3B.
I appreciate the comments about being the insider. I'm not the only one on this board who has the scoop. I just appreciate the fact that you read the threads and choose to agree or disagree.

Any inside dope on the status of Bartolo's elbow/shoulder? Whenever such a stud "becomes available" it should raise a red flag...maybe C-town knows something about Colon that Cincy should also be aware of, pre-commitment
So...there's a reason Rolen is called "Snotty" eh? FWIW, I've heard Mike Schmidt could be hard to live with, too. Could be those Philly environs. Sounds like you want to keep Aaron around...could Laura have anything to do with it?
I agree, gm. We might have to have Doc Hollywood do a once over on Colon's arm. Sort of a Colonoscopy. :o
A Colonoscopy on all potential 5 toolers and pitchers is a must.
I agree that there are questions about Colon's health. I have heard very little about his elbow or shoulder from the Indians.
I think you are right...Laura certainly does make Aaron Boone a favorite of mine. Now if Boonie could just hit 30-40 Homers I'd be happy to babysit his wife while he works.
The Reds would not be pursuing Shaw if there wasn't something else in the works.
6000!!! :p :p :p
Hopefully we would be getting Colon and not Semicolon. Semicolon has a 5+ ERA and obsesses with blowing it by people at 100 mph. Colon mixes in other pitches and has good control. We have seen too much Semicolon the last few years.
Watching early Indians games (because my buddy is a #!$!#@% Indians fan), I can tell you that Colon seems to be a bit of a different pitcher this year - at least according to the announcers. They said that he wasn't trying so hard to blow everyone away as he was trying to conserve his pitches and get deeper into games.
I watched the first three games he pitched - when Cleveland was winning - and it was evident that he was working on his location. That being said, he still hit the high 90's on the gun when the situation called for it.
Now, if he had shoulder or elbow problems, could he actually throw that hard?
The guy has started 6 games, gone almost 42 innings and has a shutout under his belt.
Let's make the trade, already.

Colon looked excellent today. Topping out at around 98 mph on the gun, was mixing up his pitches somewhat, and was not pulling his old routine where he threw nothing but fastballs. I say make the trade already.
Of course, I could see the Indians increase the price in a trade after Colon's performance today.
