Cueto with the loss... TLR chucks a huge smile out at a bar somewhere.

You might need to hammer that point home in the next 24 hours.

I'm picturing an anguished wail at an empty intersection myself.

Gpo back 3 years and tell anyone that in 2012 the Reds and Pirates would be tied in JUly for first place and anyone in the country would have laughed their tails off at you

Actually you've got about 14-15 hours to crow from the roof tops. The Buccos play a 1:35 ET game tomorrow afternoon.

I was just thinking the other day about how quickly the Reds fell into the "dregs" of baseball thanks to the Lost Decade.

6-10 in the last 16 against mostly inferior competition. Easily could have that flipped with some breaks and turns in 4-5 of those games. Make that 6-9, hope that wasn't foreshadowing for a Harang 8IP, 1ER game tomorrow night.

Our rotation is a stellar group right now. Our offense needs help. We can hope for a trade, I would rather see something creative like being Hamilton up and put him in CF. Put him out there in Bakersfield for 3 weeks. Then give him a shot here. Anything to spark the top of this lineup. Another crazy thought: put BP back in the lead off spot and Cozart second. Ludwick or Frazier 4th and then Stubbs or Heisey 7th. Remember how well Stubbs did there? Remember how well BP was leading off? Remember how well Cozart was in the 2 hole before bein pushed to lead off? Those are quick fixes. I would rather have the catchers batting higher up, but take what you can get. Tomorrow hopefully is not a Dusty special lineup of Valdez or Cairo even sniffing the lineup. Also, sit Stubbs if you do not plan on moving him down in the order. I do have a feeling Valdez might be in at SS tomorrow, but I hope I am wrong.

Hamilton would put up worse numbers than Stubbs in the majors right now and play worse defense too.

One more thing. At least we are not the Phillies. Goodnight.
Re: 7/3/2012: Reds @ Dodgers--Votto returns, Cozart has a hard head
Hamilton has zero business being called up right now.

Scouts say otherwise.
Re: 7/3/2012: Reds @ Dodgers--Votto returns, Cozart has a hard head
The poor roster management is rearing its head bigtime. Virtually no ammo to counter with late inning substitutions and lefty/righty matchups. Tied or behind from the 8th inning on and we've been losing virtually every one of them over the past three weeks.
Bad luck for sure, but with essentially a 23-man roster the last few days the roster management and offensive holes are as glaring as the skies over many US cities later tonight.

It was mostly tongue in cheek, but not too far off from what should happen. Even having him just as a pinch runner in a game like tonight could be valuable.
