Two 1st basemen tonight? Stubbs gets to cover LF as well as CF. ;)
Congratulations to Brandon Phillips, who has passed Ernie Lombardi for sole possession of 18th place on the Reds' all-time home run list!

I can't believe I actually had a couple debates with Reds fans entering the season regarding Renteria v Janish. I said Renteria was clearly the better offensive player even at this stage of his career and many doubted that statement. They said Renteria/Janish were basically equal offensively. Not even close. One of the nice things about this month is hopefully it's the last time I'll ever see Paul Janish in a Reds uniform. ;-)
Renteria is still a very-serviceable backup SS. Definitely not a starter at this stage of his career, but he's a solid backup. Still at least decent defensively and won't hurt you with the stick (for a SS). I don't get his unwillingness to play 3B though. It could extend his career like it extended Tony Fernandez's.
2-1 Reds on the ground out.
Leake is through six. 2-1 Reds going to the bottom half.
REDS win 2-1!
Reds win with Leake pitching 8 strong for his 12th win. Got his ERA down below 4 , too.
nice finish to the season for Mr. Leake. Hopefully, 2011 is the last time we have to worry about his innings pitched.
You have to like the way Leake finished the season. He only gave up three runs in his last 17 innings albeit against the Cubs. Still a very nice finish and good way for him to build onto 2012.
Leake may well be my favorite Reds pitcher since Soto. Of course, he's not in the same league as Soto was, but he's a pretty unique kid.
