mlbtraderumors: Dusty Baker to Step Down
By Tim Dierkes
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Dusty Baker has stepped down as manager of the Cincinnati Reds. Baker cited disagreements with Reds GM Walt Jocketty regarding the team's roster as the cause for turning in his resignation. Jocketty reportedly refused to make an effort to obtain Juan Pierre as the starting left fielder, resulting in a disgruntled Baker, who says he will use the time off to be with family.
Replacing Baker as manager is Reds first base coach Billy Hatcher. Hatcher, 48, was a member of the 1990 Reds team that went on to win a World Series. No announcement has been made as to who will replace Hatcher as first base coach.

What was the long one of these from last year - claiming Bill Cunningham said we had acquired Teedgarden? wasn't it?
Re: Dusty Baker Stepping Down as Manager
I know what day this is. It does look convincing though.
Re: Dusty Baker Stepping Down as Manager
There's funny and there's cruel. This is the latter.
Re: Dusty Baker Stepping Down as Manager
I heard that the Reds had traded Willy Taveras to St. Louis for Albert Pujols. I am trying to get confirmation of the deal.

Nooo way the Cardinals do this unless the Reds throw in Jacque Jones and the rights to Jeff Shaw's hometown discount.
Re: Dusty Baker Stepping Down as Manager
Wily Mo Pena was sent down to the minors.
Re: Dusty Baker Stepping Down as Manager
The lack of a sticky told me this was a tricky.
Re: Dusty Baker Stepping Down as Manager
It's not Hatcher replacing him. It's Bob Boone.

Sooooo, Raisor finally talked him into reworking his contract, eh?
If only he'd listened sooner.
