Question about the Venezuelan Summer League
I know someone has asked this before, but is there a way to find out which players on the Tampa/Cincinnati VSL team are the property of the Reds? The centerfielder, Efrain Contreras has been on fire and tearing up the league so far this year. With our luck, he's probably a Devil Ray. Also, the rightfielder, Mario Martinez, is doing quite well.
My Spanish expertise comes from 2 years of high school Spanish classes almost 17 years ago, so I know the key words, like cerveza and dinero...and of course, Dora has helped more recently with azul, verde, etc.......so can anyone accurately translate the game summaries from the VSL web site?
Here's the game summary from yesterday:

Re: Question about the Venezuelan Summer League
Tampa Bay/Cincinnati 13, Detroit 9
TB/Cincinnati wins in slugfest 13-9
The Devil Rays/REDS co-op took advantage of a 16 hit barrage to overcome the Tigers 13-9 at the "Alfredo Pedrique" Field in Cuidad Alianza.
The key hit was a base-clearing double by Mario Martinez in the seven run fifth inning which sealed the encounter.
Efrain Contreras was also noteworthy for TB/Cin with a two-run homer in the fourth. Later he would knock in another with a single in the fifth inning rally.
Alexis Espinoza went 5 for 5 with a walk for Detroit, but couldn't avoid his team's loss. The outfielder also scored one and batted in two.
Carlos Dueñas (1-0) was credited with the win despite allowing four runs in one inning labor. Carlos Cachutt (1-1) was the loser.
and..there you have it.

Here is a link: It is from baseballreference.com. http://www.baseball-reference.com/te...7_orgbat.shtml It has all the Cincinnati minor leaguers in one place - by position and also by team. Once you click on this link you scroll down to just under the aquamarine striped sponsor page. You should see an entry that looks like this: Org. Stats & Depth: Bat / Pitch.
You click on the either bat or pitch depending on whether you want to see the batting or pitching stats. First it lists the whole Reds depth chart for each position (majors and minors). ROK stands for the Venezuelan Summer League I believe. If you scroll down further they have separate listings for each affiliate. The one all the way at the bottom is the VSL. I believe the VSL players listed here are all property of the Reds (although I can't guarantee that). The reason I say this is because if you go to the Tampa Bay team page and look at their Organizational Depth Chart Stats they have different players listed for their VSL entry.
BTW, if the VSL entries listed on the Cincinnati team page are actually property of the Reds, then both the CFer Contreras and the RFer Martinez are in the Reds organization.
Hope this helps.
Re: Question about the Venezuelan Summer League
The MILB site has a Venezuelan Summer League section for those that just want to look at the box scores:

They usually get updated later in the day.
Re: Question about the Venezuelan Summer League
I made a post about this on my website last week, so here is the information. Two players pages were not listed with a team so they may or may not be with the Reds.
