Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
That's the closest Dusty has come to the lineup that I would like against right-handers all year. I would still flip Phillips and Lewis and Renteria and Hanigan. I know managers don't like playing guys both games of a double header, but I would start Janish (or Cozart) in both.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
I wonder if old man Rolen will play both? I'm guessing not.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
I would imagine we will see a different left fielder (Gomes), center/right fielder (Heisey), third baseman (Cairo), shortstop (Janish), catcher (Hanigan) and pitcher (Cueto) for the second game of the day.
I'm guessing the lineup will be
Heisey
Phillips
Votto
Bruce
Cairo
Gomes
Hanigan
Janish
Cueto

The Yankee lineup per Fay. No ARod or Texiera. Got to take advantage of that and beat these guys in this one.
Brett Gardner lf
Curtis Granderson cf
Nick Swisher rf
Robinson Cano 2b
Jorge Posada 1b
Eduardo Nunez ss
Ramiro Pena 3b
Francisco Cervilli c
Freddy Garcia p

I am going to try to do PBP until the boss man comes around.
Gardner leads off the game grounding out 4-3.

Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Leake Ks Granderson. 2 outs none on for Swisher.

Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Very nice first inning by Leake.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Swisher grounds out 4-3.
16 first inning pitches for Leake.

Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Let's hope Fred gets on base here so Dusty takes this small sample size for more than it is worth and starts batting him up there more often and Lewis gets most of the starts against right handed starting pitchers.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Lewis lines out to the right fielder.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Is their any surprise Leake goes out and takes care of business. What a guy.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Phillips doubles. Runner in scoring position and one out for Votto.

Let's not get ahead ourselves. Even Jimmah had perfect first innings.

He's the best.

Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Bruce needs to break the team slump. Right here and right now. How's that Thommy?
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Votto walks. First and second for Brrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
So much for a small zone. The umpire called the outer edge of the black against Bruce.

completely agree, like the Umpire was trying to help him out.

Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Chris said Garcia didn't have the stuff to get Bruce out and then Garcia went and made Bruce look bad.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Bruce Ks. Two out. Time for another big hit from Scotty.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Reds offense still slumping.

Scott flies out to left. Inning over.

Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Wow ... an inning in which Garcia didn't have much and the Reds still can't score. The Bruce and Rolen at bats were terrible

I guess I'm glad I couldn't actually "watch" them then.

Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Robby Cano grounds out 1-3.

Looks like called Ball 2 on Posada was exactly where called Strike 1 was on Jay Bruce.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
The "ace" walks the washed up Posada. One on, one out for Nunez.

Haha this is a joke right? I love how Leaker is pitching right now, but the ace is pitching tonight.

Nope, just following gamecast.

He certainly seems to have shoplifted your heart but don't ya think your one sentence proclamations of affection posted constantly without any prodding are starting to become a little too repetitive?
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Leake hits Pena in an 0-2 count. Fail.
-
Re: 6/22/2011 Game Thread: The Reds vs. The Evil Empire 12:35 Game
Leake just got a called first strike on Cervelli that looked a good six inches off the plate on gamecast.

I feel that it is appropriate when the said proclamations are about the pitcher that is currently doing his work on the mound. And while others mock, like you just did, he continues to go out and get the job done. This time against one of the best offenses in baseball.

IT'S THE SECOND INNING.
Get off the hyperbole train.
