When Rickey wanted to stay in the game, he played independent ball. So did Petey. Bobby Valentine went to Japan, as you noted. Davey Johnson played in Japan and coached in Holland, of all places.
Makes you wonder.

One reason could be family be has a teen age daughter and his 2nd son is probly in his early/mid 20's

Being the manager or the hitting coach for the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks or the Worcester Tornadoes probably didn't flip Pete's switch.
