Griffey Hopes to Manage Dragons
Interesting article. I would also suggest that Pat Kelly would be a candidate. He would be in line to go to Bakersfield, but may have the tenure to take the Dayton job instead if he would prefer to be there without losing his place in the pecking order. Of course, if Sweet or Bell leave for whatever reason, I would expect Kelly would move up a level. Between Kelly, Deshields, and Griffey, those would seem to be the top three candidates, but there is always a chance of someone coming in from out of the blue. Dave Collins would take the job if offered (he lives just outside of Dayton) if he does not wind up in Atlanta, as some are suggesting he will.
Edit: The other name that could enter the mix is Julio Garcia, the Reds AZL manager in 2009, who managed in the Midwest League from 2001-'05.

Re: Griffey Hopes to Manage Dragons
I would like to see Deshields get the job personally. It would give him and his staff an additional year to work with Hamilton, Yorman, Duran and Lutz who all showed huge strides last year. Since it is very unlikely that any of them will be moved to High A this upcoming season it would benefit them IMO to have a familiar face which they already trust to be in the dugout with them. Move Griffey down to Billings where he can get his feet wet as a manager.

And Barnhart? (Not to mention all those nice young pitchers: Correa, Tuttle, Robles, Muhammad, maybe Corcino, Lotzkar . . . ) Whoever gets that job will be well-equipped. For a change.
