Re: SEC Football Discussion #6
When you fire a coordinator for being the prob, and he goes to a lesser program and comes back to beat you at home, not just beat, but hang like 30 somethin straight on you....well maybe he wasn't the prob, it was you?
Mark Stoops shouldn't get too comfy in Lexington.

I think Dawson was part of the problem. Barker had times where he looked great, but the wheels came off in the fourth. Gran and Hinshaw are both improvements though.
The problem is defense and Stoops loyalty to DJ Elliott, and that may very well cost Stoops his job.
Stoops has improved the talent level considerably from where Joker had it, he just can't coach them up. I think Kentucky will have a better pick of coaches compared to when Joker was fired.

Does Malzahn get canned this year if Auburn loses 4-5 games?
There are times where it looks like Auburn is running a high school offense. Clemson is excellent, so shouldn't be criticized too much, but it kind of seems like teams are figuring out his offense.

Well, Malzahn was a high school football coach.

Auburn is 3-11 in the last 14 games vs Power 5 opponents..

I know, hence the comment. It really does seem like it, though. A lot of silly motion and gimmick plays. Might fool top teams for a year, but I think they have it figured out by now.
Re: SEC Football Discussion #6
The problem is everybody runs some form of Gus s offense now to the point defenses don't panic when Auburn puts three QBs in for one play. Auburns offense was so bad Clemson went for it instead of a FG when a Auburn TD and extra point would have beat them late in the game.
The Gus honeymoon is over.
I waited 30 years for Alabama to have a QB like Jalen. Closest was Zo and he sucked.

Tough battle at home, losing to Southern Miss late in the 4th.
Watching UK football games has become about enjoyable as a colonoscopy. I've never seen a team that can look so good at times, then one quarter later look like a bad high school team. And to top it off, the opposing team's OC coordinator is the guy you fired after last season, and he just put up 44 points on the board.
Stoops was on a short leash after last season, this game was the last thing he needed to start the season. The talent level has increased under his watch, but the team has become brutal to watch. UK football fans deserve better considering how well they support the program.
Re: SEC Football Discussion #6
Stoops will be our coach next year thanks to that ridiculous contract extension.
Re: SEC Football Discussion #6
Kentucky could still win 5 games this year. They have a number of impossible opponents this year, of course, but the bottom half of the schedule is gooey soft. Granted, USM was one of the games that was supposed to be a win.

Nothing a couple of big money boosters couldn't take care of. Especially if someone better was in line to replace him.

The only two games that are winnable are New Mexico State and Austin Peay. Vanderbilt, Missouri, and South Carolina are possible but this is the type of loss that will stall a program.
Fan support wasn't very good to start with and now it will be less which will mean a half empty stadium and no home field advantage.
Best case scenario is going to the swamp next week and pulling off a miracle. If that happens, it may save Stoops job and give them momentum to close out the season.

Add Miss State to your list. All 6 of those teams are probably worse than Southern Miss.
