Seriously....
Right now I am part of a team working on a Top 100 prospect list for another website and Mitch Boggs (#73 for Law) and German Duran (#48 for Law) didn't make anyones top 160 that we each put together.
Re: And for todays daily laugh here's Keith Laws top 100 prospect list
Isn't Ellsbury considered one of the better young outfielders in the game? Isnt he ranked a little too low as well?
Re: And for todays daily laugh here's Keith Laws top 100 prospect list
Jose Tabata = teenage Norris Hopper
Why he gets huge prospect love is well beyond me.

No. Personally I have Ellsbury somewhere in the 25-35 range. He is a guy that will hit .290-.310, draw some walks (but not a ton) and slug maybe .410-.430 each year. He doesn't have much power, but plays really good defense in centerfield. Really though, I think he will be a roughly .300/.370/.400 hitter with really good defense in centerfield for the better part of his career. In his 1017 minor league at bats he hit 9 home runs.... so he isn't going to be slugging much higher than .400 anytime soon.

EDIT- never mind, I guess I really don't know anything- Goldstein has him at #27...

I think they both are rating him a little bit, by 15-20 spots or so. He isn't a strikeout machine and doesn't have the best control either. Already has had one arm surgery. He does keep the ball in the yard and gets a good amount of groundballs (still in AA though, so that rate could go either way still). Still though, I think he is a lot closer to 50 than he is to 25.

I feel really bad because I had this picture of him as a strikeout machine with control problems similar to Bailey, but clearly I hadn't checked up on the stats!

Me bashing him (without profanity) is 1/4th of my warning level............
That being said, the guy did peg Eric Hinske to be the cornerstone of his franchise, so what do I know?
