As they say, "Sometimes the best "trades" are the one's you don't make!" :)
No top 50 prospects and best was Braves 9 prospect. Probably equivalent was Heisey + Boxberger and two lesser guys. Keep snoring Walt.
Here are the players Houston got for Bourn from Jayson Stark:
Quote:
J Schafer, lhp Brett Oberholtzer, rhp Paul Clemens & rhp Juan Abreu.
It is odd that I have felt relieved with almost every trade that's gone down this year.
At the prices players are costing this year, I'm very happy Walt hasn't pulled the trigger.
Sigh of relief here. I hope we survive the rest of the day.
Braves #7 prospect doesn't equal Reds #7 prospect
Braves #8 prospect doesn't equal Reds #8 prospect... and so on
If our GM is basing a players trade value off of BA's, BP's, ESPN's prospect rankings, we're in trouble...
And nice response... You copy/pasting that in pretty much every thread right now? Add something intelligent please.

Other than Matt Holliday, Bourn was the guy I've wanted the worst to add to our current lineup over the past few years. I've been saying he would be a perfect fit for us for two years. I wonder what our price would have been. Good for Atlanta. They've got a nice squad.
Reds and Braves systems have been ranked similarly (#3 vs. #6 in latest BA). Also for discussion purposes, publication rankings are frequently used to compare and gauge general value (ie player X will require two Top 50 prospects) both on this board and in the national media.
