Malcolm Gladwell article on NBA lockout and owning sports franchises
Tons of good stuff in here. Terrific writer:

"Snyder Communications was a business. The Redskins are a toy. The former he ran to solely maximize profit. The latter he runs for his psychic benefit — as a reward for all the years he spent being disciplined and rational. "
"of course an owner is only losing money if he values the psychic benefits of owning an NBA franchise at zero — and if you value psychic benefits at zero, then you shouldn't own an NBA franchise in the first place. You should sell your "business" — at what is sure to be a healthy premium — to someone who actually likes basketball."

Malcolm Gladwell has the gift to understand the world on a level in which few of us could ever hope and can then explain it to the rest of us.

I like the Grantland site a lot. One way I measure good writing is if I enjoy an article even if I don't agree with what the writer is saying. They have some good writers over there.
