New BA Hot Sheet.....2 reds

The Expected.....
Quote:
4. Jay Bruce, of, Triple-A Louisville (Reds)
The 20-year-old Bruce is proving with each promotion that there's little he can't do. After slumping upon arrival in the International League (for all of about a week), Bruce has proceeded to hit .358/.411/.716 with six home runs and 15 RBIs in the 18 games since July 21. He's fared very well against lefthanded pitchers thus far, too, hitting .333/.440/.667 in 21 at-bats. And don't look now, but Bruce is the minor league leader with 68 extra-base hits.
And The New........
Quote:
18. Matt Maloney, lhp, Double-A Chattanooga (Reds)
When you're the new guy, you want to fit in. Maloney did a pretty job of introducing himself to his new Lookouts teammates--seven innings, six hits, one run and 10 strikeouts in his first start since being traded to the Reds.
Re: New BA Hot Sheet.....2 reds
If he stays in AAA the rest of the year, Bruce will probably be BA's minor league player of the year. I would guess.

Cueto is also a BA favorite. How's he looked so far?

Dominant in the 2 starts for Louisville (1 last week, 1 spot-start earlier in the year). 2 above average pitches, 1 average pitch. He starts tomorrow.

Should be fun. Its nice to see the reds have some sort of chance at a future. Bruce, bailey, votto, and cueto all look very promising.

Would the above average pitches be fastball and slider, with the avg. being the change? Also, I hear Cueto's fastball sits at ~94, and he can touch 96, 97. Is that accurate?

been doin your homework ?? :) it's like he has 2 gears...when he wants to throw 97 he can, but usually sits 91 - 93.

How's the movement on his fastball? And I also heard that his change has a lot of potential after working with mario soto this past offseason.
Re: New BA Hot Sheet.....2 reds
To echo keymastur, Cueto seems to be in the 90-93 range the first few innings but kicks it up another gear as the game goes on. He can hit the upper 90's if he really feels like it. Score one for the good guys on that signing.

That definatly bodes well for him as a starter if he gets stronger as the game goes on.

it's good. much like homer, it's sneaky fast. he'll either blow it by a hitter or the hitter will get jammed and pop it up / ground out.
change-up has been effective too. he's not scared to throw any pitch in any count

Good to hear. Hopefully these guys can team up with harang to be a 3 headed monster as soon as next year.
Re: New BA Hot Sheet.....2 reds
btw keymastur, my apologies for intemperateness last week. Thanks for the insight on Cueto's stuff.
Re: New BA Hot Sheet.....2 reds
I had high hopes for Maloney, but this surprised me.
