Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
2 runs won't get it done...Weathers was due
Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
Not surprising
Reds lose 3-2
Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
Weathers doing what weathers do.
Killed by no offense again on the evening.
Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
I think I need to have a long talk with Dusty about switching Masset's and Weathers' roles in the bullpen.
Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
The Big One lost its feed and missed the final out.
That never USED to happen....
Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
This just in...... the Reds offense isn't very good.
Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
Better to lose it in the ninth, than go 15 or 16.
REDS were lucky to get those 2 runs tonight.
Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
Two big things:
1. Chris Welsh said it. Nix tags and goes to second on the terrible Werth throw to the plate and the Reds might win this game 3-2.
2. Bailey shurgged off Hernandez on the home run ball to Werth. Don't shrug off your catcher.

The role is fine. Left him in too long. Dusty conserving his pen lost the game, along with no offense.
Re: 7/8/09 Reds vs Phillies
Thanks for the great reports on Homer.

They still might have been able to score if Nix didn't make it easy for Utley to turn the double play.

That means little. Massett faced much more difficult hitters. Difference in the game was the Reds getting the bases loaded with nobody out and not having enough discipline to even take a strike. Nix swung at ball 1 and hit a seeing eye single, Hernandez swung at a ball and hit a SF, and Bruce swung at ball 4 and hit into a DP.

Doubtful. Nix was dead to rights. Utley throws that ball to second and the onto 1st and they still get Bruce.
