My favorite album of the year was Sigh No More by Mumford and Sons. Nothing even came close for me this year and I was pleasantly surprised by the Grammy nominations it picked up.
"Sigh No More" was easily my favorite too. Rounding out my top three are "Contra" by Vampire Weekend and "Astro Coast" by Surfer Blood.
And I know it doesn't count since it came out in 2009, but I only discovered it in '10: "I and Love and You" by the Avett Brothers is outstanding.
I also really like the band Girls - only just found out about them.
My favorite release this year is Azure Ray's, Drawing Down the Moon.
I'd have to think about it more...but 3 that immediately come to mind are Infinite Arms by Band of Horses, III/IV by Ryan Adams and the Cardinals and Plastic Beach by The Gorillaz.
I enjoyed
The Suburbs - Arcade Fire
Broken Bells
Heaven is Wherever - The Hold Steady
Those two plus:
Astro Coast - Surfer Blood
Treats - Sleigh Bells
Fang Island - Fang Island
Of the Blue Colour of the Sky - OK Go (I have to the only person that's not a fourteen year-old girl talking about them on the internet haha)
Personal Life - The Thermals
Do it for me...
Do they still make albums?
