So with the Reds moving out of Sarasota...
This most likely means the end of the Sarasota Reds and GCL Reds minor league teams. I assume that our low level rookie team will now play in the AZL, but where does that leave our A+ affiliate?
Or maybe I'm mistaken, would our teams still play in Sarasota?
Re: So with the Reds moving out of Sarasota...
The sooner all Reds affiliates can get out of Sarasota the better.
Re: So with the Reds moving out of Sarasota...
It's possible they may extend for 2 more years, but a lot depends on the Boston and Baltimore situations. If Boston gets Sarasota for Spring Training (and Sarasota is trying hard to screw it up again) then Boston will almost certainly buy the Sarasota Reds, and the Reds will need a High A franchise.
Boston owns a High A Franchise in Salem Va, (the Avalanche), so if Boston goes to Sarasota, a franchise swap makes a lot of sense.
Baltimore might also want a franchise for Vero Beach (current team moves to Port Charlotte), so they might also want to buy/move Sarasota if the Bosox thing comes unraveled.
Either way, Carolina League seems to make most sense.
Re: So with the Reds moving out of Sarasota...
A swap with Boston's High-A Salem franchise would be my preference. Getting another Reds farm team within close proximity to a Reds region (West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, etc.) would be a plus benefit, IMO.

I'm all for that!

We had Potomac for a season or two, didn't we? And Charleston, WV another time?

Potomac (High-A) for a few seasons 2003-2004 and Charleston Wheelers (Low-A) 1990-1998.

If the Reds wanna come be my guest, the Brew Crew contract is up in September.
Re: So with the Reds moving out of Sarasota...
Sarasota Reds can't go to Charleston because they are Low - A.

Well... they could go with 2 Low-A ballclubs like when Dayton and Clinton were both in the Midwest League.
Re: So with the Reds moving out of Sarasota...
Actuallly no they can't. Baseball no longer allows that
Re: So with the Reds moving out of Sarasota...
with our facility Im pretty sure we could compete with High A. Or just sell the Dayton team and come back to charleston :D.
Re: So with the Reds moving out of Sarasota...
If I hit the lottery, I'll build a stadium in Huntington WV for the Reds to put a High A Carolina League team there.

Salem Avalanche are affiliated with the Astros. Although I would be all for somehow finding a way to put the Red's High-A team somewhere in within decent driving distance from Cincinnati like Dayton and Louisville already are.
