3 Bold Predictions for 2013
1. Latos, Cueto and Bailey all finish with an ERA betwen 3.00 and 3.25
2. Mesoraco catches more games than Hanigan and finishes with almost 20 HR
3. Reds come very close to being the [first team ever?] to have every starter on the team finish with at least 20 HR

I honestly think every one of these has a great chance of happening.

8 players with 20 HR's seems a bit ambitious.

That's why they are BOLD PREDICTIONS.
Although I don't think it's entirely out of the question with this lineup.

I see us coming up a bit shy on 3, but the fact that there's even a chance of that happening is crazy in today's game.
1) Choo has career year in GABP and hits 25 homers with .400+ OBP
2) Votto completes the staggering year he was on pace for before the knee injury. 1.100+ OPS
3) We crack the 100 win mark and stomp the Central once again
Re: 3 Bold Predictions for 2013
1. Chris Carpenter learns Kung Fu and challenges Karate Kid Cueto to a fight. It ends up in a draw and Chris Carpenter tries to find the right words to explain it to his son.
2. Oscar Taveras comes up due to a Carlos Beltran injury and has a Pujols type rookie year. Wins rookie of the year.
3. The Chicago Cubs still blow.

I don't think you're quite grasping the concept of BOLD predictions. That's a predetermined FACT. Big difference. :p
Okay, I'll go.
1. We get our first Cy Young winner...in Homer Bailey.
2. Wire to wire champs. 105 wins.
3. Bruce tops 40 dingers / 100 rbi's, but Votto takes the MVP in a cake walk.
Re: 3 Bold Predictions for 2013
1. Shin-Soo Choo misses more than 50 games to injury
2. Ryan Ludwick leads the team in RBI
3. The team fails to win 90 games... and still wins the NL Central.

True, I just had to get my random shot in at the Cubs. I know I shouldn't expect anything less than suckage from a team that hasn't been relevant since the Ottoman Empire.

If Leake starts he is the only one who could get 20 homers. Arroyo could get a few, Latos and Bailey could luck into a couple but I doubt Cueto could get 1 let alone 20. Chapman is a wildcard as we haven't seen him swing. ;)
Record for most players with 20 homers is 7 in AL, 6 in NL
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/rb_hr7.shtml
AL 7 players
1996 Baltimore Orioles
2000 Toronto Blue Jays
2005 Texas Rangers
2009 New York Yankees
NL6 players
1965 Milwaukee Braves
2003 Atlanta Braves
Re: 3 Bold Predictions for 2013
1. After a year of non-injuries in the starting rotation, 2013 sees a few starters go down, with Leake and Cingrani stepping in and holding down the fort respectably.
2. With less pressure on him, and more depth in the lineup, Jay Bruce has an MVP-type season, cranking over 40 home runs and 115 RBIs
3. The Mayans were actually right, the world ends in 8 days, and we never get to see the reincarnation of the Big Red Machine.

Based purely on athleticism, Chapman is a good bet to crack the 20 HR mark. By the All-Star break.

:beerme: Props for the historical reference!
1. Broxton is injured by the end of May and Chapman is the closer again, effectively ending the starter experiment when he wins a Cy Young as a closer.
2. Mike Leake wins 15 games as a starter and also hits 15 home runs.
3. Albert Pujols' and Josh Hamilton's holier-than-thou attitudes alienate a large portion of the Angels locker room as a kind of holy war brews between the two and the Angels fail to make the playoffs again.
