I thought you considered him a no stick. As for OPS, it's not the only metric to show a guy can hit. He puts the ball in play, something many people think is good for a #2. Especially when you consider who will be on base in front of him.
As for the baseball book, I understand what you are getting at. Yet if you also look at the sabermetrics that show your better hitters should batter higher in the order, they will also show it will make little to no difference vs. a traditional batting order.
Overall, he is not a no stick and is not a bad option in the two spot.
