Its possible he ends up on waivers. Would you?
Yes
I would, but don't see Walt doing it. I really believe Walt feels this team doesn't need any tweaking barring an injury.
in a heartbeat
Yes, but I don't think he would make it past the AL teams.
I honestly don't think the Reds make a whole lot of moves this year. From the posts I have seen Jocketty is pretty happy to wait this thing out and see what happens. Damon would no doubt give this lineup a whole different look.
Ah, how sweet Johnny Damon would look at the top of the order, or batting 5th, or anywhere in the lineup for this team at that matter. His patience at the plate would be a welcome sight on this team. And he would help balance out some of the returns to earth of other players on the team, while making it less HR dependent, despite that we are amazingly still first in the NL in offense.
That's obviously a yes ;)
He wouldn't be a good fit on this team....his OBP is too high.
Wow. The lead off this team lacks. Before anybody starts citing Phillips' lead-off #'s, he is much better at #2, check the ups and downs of his bat stats. And, when the big 3 batted 2-3-4, they gave Gomes better pitches to hit.
Would be a truely Great Move. I wish the Reds would have signed him in the offseason. Would have been the perfect #2 hitter all year long besides these dang ShortStops!
Not that it would happen, but yes, in a heartbeat.
PEACE

He knows how to win.
That would be a solid pickup
not unless the NL wants to adopt the DH
If you think Gomes is a bad fielder you have not seen anything yet
He has lost his power (7 HR) & speed (7 SB), he never had an arm and costs 8 million
BTW he has a no-trade clause
