So if they don't sign him now, there's probably not much of a chance of it next year? I think the pressure is on the Nationals to come up in price, I predict they don't get it done.

So are our guys actually signed at this point? I understood they were coming in for physicals. Do they sign and then if they fail the physical there's an escape clause or something? Maybe I'm just being thick on this.
Boras has 4 top ten picks that haven't signed. I'm wondering how he can negotiate for all of them tonight
With Shelby Miller signing today with the Cards, there are 13 left. 6 belong to Boras.
Stephen Strasburg (1st pick-Nationals), Dustin Ackley (2nd-Mariners), Donavan Tate (3rd-Padres), Jacob Turner (9th-Tigers), Grant Green (13th - A's), and LeVon Washington (30th-Rays) are all unsigned at this point.
Boras also has a supplemental first rounder in James Paxton (37th-Blue Jays), who is unsigned.
He only has two of his draftees signed at this point - Kentrail Davis (1st Rd Supp. 39th-Brewers), who signed today, and Gavin Brooks (9th Round-Yankees).
That's 9 draftees, only two are signed with 2:15 left to go before deadline.
We'll see how many are left when the dust settles tomorrow morning, but it's looking like the St. Paul Saints are going to have one heck of a baseball team in a couple of days.
Wow, I hope the Reds never . . . ever . . . ever draft a Boras client. They need to stick with Beverly Hills Sports Council who represented five of the Reds top 11 this year (Leake, Boxberger, Fellhauer, Pearl & Barnhart).
Leake and Boxberger made official

CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Reds tonight signed their first two picks of the 2009 first-year player draft, eighth selection overall RHP Mike Leake (6-0, 180) from Arizona State University and supplemental first-round pick RHP Brad Boxberger (6-2, 185) out of the University of Southern California.
Leake, Boxberger and Reds President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Walt Jocketty will be available to the media tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. in the Reds' dugout at Great American Ball Park.
Leake, 21, was named the National Player of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association. He is the 14th Sun Devils player to be named National Player of the Year and the first since Paul Lo Duca in 1993.
The junior from Fallbrook, California, finished the 2009 season with a 16-1 record, the most wins by any pitcher in the country, and a 1.71 ERA. His 40 wins is tied for the most ever by a 3-year player at ASU and is tied for third-most in school history.
Leake was named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year in each of the last 2 seasons, the first ever back-to-back winner. He was a unanimous first-team All-American selection and was a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, Howser Award and Pitcher of the Year award presented by the College Baseball Foundation.
Leake was the first pitcher selected by the Reds in the first round since RHP Homer Bailey in 2004. He was the first collegiate pitcher selected by the Reds in the opening round since RHP Ryan Wagner in 2003. The Reds had selected a position player with their first pick in each of the previous four drafts: 1B Yonder Alonso (2008), C Devin Mesoraco (2007), OF Drew Stubbs (2006) and OF Jay Bruce (2005).
Boxberger, 21, was selected in the supplemental first round (43rd overall). In his 3-year career with the Trojans, he went 11-12 with a 3.81 ERA. He was an All-Pac 10 selection as a junior and was a freshman All-America second-team pick.
In 2009, Boxberger went 6-3 with a 3.16 ERA in 14 starts for Southern Cal.
His father, Rod Boxberger, went 12-1 with a 2.00 ERA and earned College World Series Most Valuable Player honors for the 1978 USC national championship squad that went 54-9.
any word on if Marrero or Perez or anyone else signed at the wire?
Nothing yet.
Looks like Boras blinked. seems that most of his clients signed at the deadline and nobody really broke the bank. Boras had to take it to the deadline just because he is who he is. I can see why owners and GMs hate him so

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Washington Nationals say they have agreed to a contract with No. 1 overall draft pick Stephen Strasburg.
Reds sign top two Draft picks
Leake was taken at No. 8 overall; Boxberger No. 43

CINCINNATI -- Now that they have passed their physicals, the signings of the Reds' top two Draft picks became official on Monday night.
Deals with right-handed pitcher Mike Leake, the eighth overall selection in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, and supplemental first round choice, right-hander Brad Boxberger, were announced about 30 minutes before Monday's midnight ET deadline.
However, agreements on contracts were already reached on Saturday. The Reds did not reveal the terms of the deals but Leake, a right-handed starter from Arizona State, will get a $2.27 million bonus that was over the MLB slot recommendation of $2.043 million. It actually equaled the 2008 slot level.
Boxberger, who was the 43rd overall pick out of the University of Southern California, received a bonus worth $857,000.
"We're excited," Reds scouting director Chris Buckley said. "We didn't want to say anything until we worked out all the terms. That's standard to get through the physicals. Everything is OK."
Both players and Reds general manager Walt Jocketty will meet with the media at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Great American Ball Park.
Buckley said that Leake and Boxberger would be sent to the team's Spring Training complex in Sarasota. The Reds have a Gulf Coast and Class A Florida State League team there.
"Neither one of the guys have pitched in a game in a couple of months," Buckley said. "They have to get tuned up. I'm not sure they'll pitch before the season is over. They both pitched a lot of innings this year."
Leake was 16-1 with a 1.71 ERA, 24 walks and 162 strikeouts in 142 innings over 19 games this season. His 40 wins for the Sun Devils was tied for the most ever by a three-year player at ASU and is tied for third-most in school history.
The 21-year-old Leake was named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year in each of the past two seasons, the first ever back-to-back winner. He was a unanimous first-team All-American selection and was a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, Howser Award and Pitcher of the Year Award presented by the College Baseball Foundation.
This season in 14 starts, the 21-year-old Boxberger was 6-3 with a 3.16 ERA, 50 walks and 99 strikeouts.
Both players were represented by the same agent, Danny Horwits.
Despite the late announcement, there never appeared to be any danger of the signings not getting done. After the deadline, clubs lose their rights to any unsigned 2009 Draft picks, which go back into the pool to be drafted next year.
Because they weren't expected to pitch much this summer, the Reds didn't move quickly to get Leake and Boxberger into the fold so they could play this season.
"I think we were pretty sure that they would get signed," Buckley said. "We were happy with the deals."
