There might not of been much doubt but I'm really happy to see Bruce in there again.
1st place or not, it's comments like this that make me want to throw Dusty in the Ohio River.Quote:
“But then he hit that rocket in his last at-bat,” Baker said. “He’s so valuable on defense. He can do a lot of things to help us without hitting.”

Why? Yes Brandon has struggled lately. But he IS bound to snap out of it sooner or later. And we certainly need him to. And again, Dusty's correct...he could indeed go 0 for 4 and still be an asset on the field. Dusty's certainly been known to make some rather bone-headed remarks...but I don't see it with this one.
I think he's bringing up Phillips tough spell of hitting to keep us from focusing on our #5 hitter, who has been worse in every facet, and provides exceptional negative value on defense.
Dusty is just a master of misdirection. :)
My biggest problem is that him "hitting a rocket" was the difference between playing in his probably pain-induced slump again tonight, and getting a much-needed night off. And yes, it was about BP. Sorry for not making note of that.

By the way, Pujols has out of the lineup tonight with elbow soneness... FeLopez starting and playing 1st tonight.
And, The 2011 schedule will be announced tonight at 8 PM.
I like listening to Jim Kelch...but I'm glad Marty's back tonight (he'd been off the last several games). I'd much rather listen to him. Growing up listening to him and Joe in my bedroom late at night (when I wasn't supposed to be), Marty IS Reds baseball to me in many ways. Games without Marty only serves to remind me how much I miss listening to Joe as well. *sigh*
And this game is underway. Still love hearing that after all these years.
