I watched "Promised Land" the other night. I had really high expectations and found it a big let down and a pretty big disappointment.
Watched Ed Wood again the other night...
I don't think I could ever get tired of watching that film... sooooo good.
PULL THE STRING! PULL THE STRING!
Took the wife to Silver Linings Playbook, and we both enjoyed it. The movie had a nice pace and incorporated so many wonderful things in it (dance, football, Philadelphia, and romance) while also dealing with some harder subjects as well (mental illness and family dysfunction). Plus Robert DeNiro was great, as Bradley Cooper's father. Definitely a must see, especially if you owe your wife a movie or two.
I had REALLY high expectations for Zero Dark Thirty. It was fascinating and terrific and. I must say though, I expected a little more, even though I'm not sure what that "more" was.
I've heard people complain that it started slow, but I enjoyed the minutiae. I was sad to see the raid start because I knew it was almost over, I would have needed to pee but I could have easily watched another hour and not felt restless.

I recently watched "The Adjustment Bureau" and "Source Code". Pretty good sci-fi'ish flicks.
As like most sci-fi films, the build-up is better than the payoff. But these endings were pretty decent. I'd give them both solid B's.
Watched Expendables 1 on Netflix then Expendables 2 on TWC last night. Silly fun I guess to kill almost 4 hours on a lazy Saturday night but really gets ludicrous after awhile. The editing is so lightning fast you cant tell who is killing who.
Watching the previews with Lincoln and the new Die Hard looks like a movie to watch when you want to enjoy something not too deep and thought provoking (translation: Lots of things going boom and often).
Just picked up ParaNorman and 7 psychopaths from Redbox.
ParaNorman would be a good kids' movie. Computer animation (or whatever they call it these days) is simply amazing.
7 psychopaths I would give three stars (out of five). Maybe 3.5 stars. Interesting, well-acted. Nice twist during the credits. So stay tuned during that part. Definitely worth a look.
I *LOVED* Seven Psychopaths, which is weird because I was lukewarm toward Martin McDonagh's first movie, In Bruges which has become a cult movie. It probably had something to do with struggling with their accents when I watched it a few years ago. But the only movie that possibly made me laugh more in 2012 than Seven Psychopaths was 21 Jump Street. The cast was a wet dream of my favorite actors. Gonna need to give In Bruges another try...
