how is lutz playing on defense?
Adequate in LF. Picture Pat Burrell.
His bunt was against a shift with the 3rd basemen playing SS. Lutz could have walked to 1st. The Smokies did it to him last night and the happiest person on the field after Lutz bunted was Delino Deshields. The shift ended after that at bat.
but overall it looked like this team wanted to be somewhere else. Ryan Lamarre had a terrible game on defense and looks like he has gained unhealthy weight.

Bakersfield goes down 4-2.
Bats:
Kyle Waldrop - 2 for 4. A single, a double and an RBI.
Juan Silverio - singled in three trips.
Sean Buckley - got HBP and scored a run.
Chris Berset - 1 for 3. He doubled, knocked in a run and scored a run.
Blaze hitters drew exactly ZERO walks in the contest.
Arms:
Converted closer, Arol....errr....Carlos Contreras pitched well. His control was a little spotty. He gave up just one hit in four innings pitched. It was a solo blast. He walked four and struck out five.
Carlos Gonzalez - even money I mix them up a time or two in 2013 - pitched next and hurled two scoreless frames. He gave up one hit, walked two and fanned three.
Brooks Pinckard blew the save and took the loss. 1.1IP 2H 2ER 1BB 2K.
Kyle McMyne came on and didn't help matters much. 0.2IP 1H 1ER 0BB 2K. The hit was a two-run game-loser. It should be noted that he did hit the next batter following that blast.

Tentative Hamilton update:
Quote:
After the game, Riggleman said Hamilton possibly suffered cramps and could play Saturday.
“If it was a cramp, he’ll play,” Riggleman said. “If it’s more than cramps, he won’t.”
