A recruiting analyst (Something Crabtree) was on the radio down here in Houston and had the Buckeyes' recruiting class ranked third nationally this year, FWIW.

My guess is LSU will be no 1. No 2 QB recruit, no 3 RB recruit, and the top wideout, to go along with the top safety and a five star DT, among others.

I made a quick chart of the Big East recruits that were listed as signed so far. I would imagine, aside from Syracuse, the lists are pretty complete. I added Ohio State at the end as a barometer.

The Bearcats looks as though they concentrated on the defensive side of the ball. Worth mentioning is that Ohio State had 2 five-star recruits, no one in the Big East pulled one in. Ohio State had 15 four-star recruits, the BE combined had just 22. If you didn't receive at least three stars Ohio State was not interested. Three stars in the BE and you are starting by your sophomore year.

That Crabtree guy on the radio had Alabama rated number one. I just caught the tail end of that segment. I think he had LSU second and Ohio State third.

The most recent graduating class at UC was in the bottom half of CUSA in the recruiting rankings. That class also featured 3 All-Americans (Mickens, Byrd and Huber). 3 others in that class will likely be drafted (Canfield, DLo Smith and Barwin).
Recruiting is fun to look at, but don't put too much stock into it.

Yeah, you could debate Alabama and LSU no 1 and 2. My take is whoever landed Reuben Randle would get the no 1 spot, and that happened to be LSU. I do give Alabama credit for being able to hang on to Trent Richardson.

In college football, how you coach the kids up when they arrive on campus is infinitely more important than their 'stock' going in.

I think of West Virginia with Jason Gwaltney. He was supposed to be the best RB Rich Rodriguez had ever recruited. That distinction now goes to another running back from the same class by the name of Steve Slaton.

Yeah, I am definitely happy with the class Kentucky has coming in this year, especially the quarterbacks. Chris Matthews may be our biggest recruit though. He reminds me a lot of Steve Johnson.
I will say this in regards to coaching the kids. Rich Brooks hasn't brought in the All Americans like Florida, LSU, and Alabama do every year, but he has gotten the most out of the talent that he has recruited. Brooks also realizes speed is the necessity to compete in the SEC.
I remember when there were only a handful of players who did good running the 40. Now just about everybody can do so.

Your Syracuse list is complete. They didn't lose a lot of players so they don't have that many scholarships to give this year.

Kentucky also picked up a 4 star DE in DeQuin Evans. It was down to Kentucky and Louisville, but I think the Chris Matthews factor won out.

I checked out Louisville's class and it was pretty underwhelming.
