Denorfia's Batting Stance
Does anyone else think his batting stance looks really weak with a small chance to drive the ball? I know his minor league numbers say otherwise, but he just looks overmatched at the plate. I really like the way Denorfia plays, I love his speed, and would like him to be an every day player for us next year. But, I think he has to adjust his stance to be a better player up here. I may be wrong, but I think his hands need to be higher and farther back to be in a better position to drive the ball. Any one else think so? I know I'm walking on thin ice on here suggesting "superman" Denorfia should make a change, but I believe he can be a better hitter if he makes this change.

Everyone in baseball. Plus he holds his bat in a way that increase bat control and decreases power.
That's his game, he'll have his place and we can use him and those type of players. Just don't pay out the nose for them and everything usually works out.
Re: Denorfia's Batting Stance
wade boggs and tony gwynn did just fine with "weak" batting stances. just spray the bal wherever you can and let it fall. no shame in singles, stolen bases, and a nice OBP and runs scored statistic
Re: Denorfia's Batting Stance
Where he starts with the bat isn't what you need to look at.
Once the pitcher starts his delivery, Deno moves his hands back dramatically, into a more traditional position. It's part of his timing device, and he actually is moving more than hitters who start with their hands further back and more loaded up on the back side.
Watch only him next time, not the pitcher, and you'll see it's like a spring loading timing device.
Re: Denorfia's Batting Stance
maybe he is just in his "clark kent" stance now and saving his costume change for later.maybe today vs braves ???

exactly right, his hands and bat are in good position when the pitcher is near his release point.

I know that Denorfia is not getting a lot of at bat's, but he really is not looking real good at the plate. Maybe it's confidence, maybe it's big league pitching, but I have not been real impressed with what I am seeing since he has been recalled. You have to make the most of the chances that you get.
